He waited, I think because he felt the power of the shots that landed .. sometimes a young, brave, physically gifted fighter with speed and power is a better challenge for an older champion than a less physically gifted chess player .. I think Wlad is certainly getting older but put up a nice fight . there is no doubt he is far mentally stronger than ever before and this is having a huge impact on his performances , no different that how an older Foremen had stamina the younger did not ..

I don't see him as possessing speed, or power, not particularly physically gifted.

The HW Champ should be doing numbers close to that on PPV.

The fact people are happy and surprised he done those numbers in 7 years says it all really.

The viewing figures for Fury vs Cunningham was 1.2m.

    No. Wlad v Pianeta:lol:

The local pub is showing the big fight from midnight onwards.I doubt I would be able to focus at 4 am.

I'll buy it myself and watch it in the morning, with eggs and bacon and all the progeny round to view it..

I think I know Wlad a bit better than you. You don't need to be a great boxer to beat Wlad or give him trouble. No one is going to out box Wlad.

To give him trouble a fighter needs:

    Guts and stamina
    Durability
    Size / reach
A style where you press forward
    Power

Jennings had 4 of the 5. If you look at Wlad's losses Purity had all 4 of 5 ( 31 of his wins had 27 Ko's ), Sanders had 4 1/2 out of 5, and Brewster had 4 1/2 out of 5.

Up next are Wilder, or Fury. I would say they are missing at least 2 of the above ingredients needed to give Wlad trouble

Sure, Wlad who blew out the #1 contender 5 months ago, and just beat a guy who ranked 5th, only losing three rounds is past his prime.

Next up is Tyson Fury! I see a smashing KO over Fury, and after that the people who felt Wlad was near unbeatable vs. Pulev ( some here ), but now think Wlad is past his best will change flip flop to their initial opinion.

Past there prime fighters do not move around as well as Wlad does. They do not throw as many punches or have the stamina that Wlad does.

Amazing...Wlad looses three rounds to a ranked fighter and now people think he's in decline. He's not Ali or Larry Holmes. Those guys were in decline in the mid 30's, struggling or losing to opponents on Jennings level. Wlad's more like his brother or Archie Moore. Still dominating past his 39th birthday.

I thought Pulev was **** before the fight
and said it, and so he proved to be.

You think Wlad is prime good for you ,it just emphasises what you know.

    The Mongoose says:

    Good news,

Klitschko/Jennings was a ratings sensation. Peaked at 1.7 million viewers. Most viewed cable fight in 3 years.

I guess we'll be seeing more prime time Wlad in the states.

Most of the fights you listed were vs two hall of fame fighters. Jennings of course was not. 1.9 million on cable under these circumstances proves people want to see Wlad.

I say let Wlad fight Fury in Wembley Stadium, which has a capacity of 90.000 people. The UK fans will pack the house and wager foolishly.

Here is the list of the biggest attendances in Europe (excluding UK) since 2006:

The UK has some good boxing fans. No doubt the place would be electric until Wlad lands his first major punch of the fight!

For the record I think Fury is decent and worthy of a top 5 rankings, but he matches up poorly with Wlad.

Yeah, doing huge numbers like that against a largely unknown fighter is very impressive.

The fight also drew 17,000 in attendance.

Last Saturday night HBO Boxing televised the return of heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko to the United States for the first time in more than seven years and it proved to be a smash hit in the television ratings. Per Nielsen Media Research, Klitschko’s fight against Bryant Jennings delivered an average viewership of 1,637,000, peaking at 1,742,000 viewers. This is by far the top performing bout on premium OR basic cable this year, and was the most watched HBO World Championship Boxing event since June 2012.
