I am merely affirming my assertion of disinterest in the present boxing scene...as I stated in the "Decline of boxing" thread. Sure I entered this thread and fearlessly and eloquently (if I do say so myself) made my prediction, but if I really cared, I would have known that the bout had already taken place.

Surprised me just how many fans Pulev had in there! Sounded like way more than Wlad.

No. He was respectful toward them and said something like Pulev wasn't so easy and showed heart.

Congratulations to Wladimir for a conclusive finish.

However, for 80% of the bout I found myself ridiculing Pulev's technique. If the Bulgarian is indicative of number one contender status then what can be said about the division? Straight as a pole and gunshy; not exactly the traits needed to rip the championship away.

I do not see him losing anytime soon, but being charitable that is his first defence of the 'generally recognized' Heavyweight Championship of the World (the title Louis holds the record for most defences of). So if he keeps going until his mid/late 40s, he may get close.

    Terrific performance from Wladimir Klitschko.
    He's a great fighter.
    There, I said it.

Second best? I take Stiverne to stiffen Pulev.

Pulev was horrible you couldn't miss him with a punch, his defence is non-existant his feet appeared to be in cement and his speed was poor he is a predictable plodder who lacks power.
Wlad can be champion as long as he wants just as long as he fights fighters with the ability of Pulev.

He showed heart and the skill level of a journeyman, he has zero defence , zero skill, and zero power.

What? He showed tremendous heart. He got up several times from booming punches. His face looked like an open sandwich by the end.

Furthermore, he did exactly what he needed to do to give himself tactical chances. Everyone - everyone, to a man - agree that the way to beat Wlad is to make the fight messy and create chances. He did that. "Zero" skill, "zero" power, that's ludicrous.

    Can you read?
I said he showed heart in my opening words.
The way to beat Wlad is to accept that you are going to get hit getting in, but to take them and land your own shots, no one is going to beat him in a fencing match ,neither will they beat him by turning it into a grabfest because that is exactly what he wants.

Pulev's skill level is that of a journeyman , he pushes the jab, telegraphs the right hand and is wide open, you cant miss him with a punch ,Wlad could have closed his eyes and thrown, he would still have connected .
Pulevs feet appeared to be tied together, and he has zero head movement.
The fight should have been over after 2 rounds.
Everyone, everyone is WRONG, DEAD WRONG.

Pulev had no power to hurt Wlad with even if he tagged him.
He couldn't out box him ,and he couldn't out punch him.
Why did anyone think he had a chance?
    I ****ing didn't!
The only imponderable was if Wlad had gone back overnight because of his age.

Stiverne beats Pulev and I'll have a bet on him against Wlad.
You write about boxing don't you?
    Christ, it's a good thing you're not a trainer.

While Wlad once again demonstrated his massive power with both fists, I thought he looked sloppy and for lack of a better word, vulnerable. His guard wasn't up, his feet didn't seem as responsive as normally. His jab was almost completely absent, though to be fair, Pulev's style disarms the jab a bit. Pulev landed good 1-2's several times, which hasn't happened in years.

I think, at 38 now, Wlad should retire.
