Again, you expose your lack of boxing knowledge. Wlad is not euro styled... How many euros lead with a left hook? How many hook off a jab? Wlad is 39 and used up. I'm sure these pleases many and now they think they can substantiate arguments they've been making for 11 years.

He actually did beat a ranked contender. And his record per your comment isn't bad. He's never lost

 

Jersey Joe Walcott. Archie Moore. Vitali Klitchko, Lennox Lewis to name a few but I get what you mean, after a long incredible run it proberbly is a bit unfair. But let's face it, how many of his failed challengers could combine the attributes I named? Everyone looks great winning and nobody looks much good losing. A seasoned challenger with Size, work rate and youth edge? Better fighters were either too small or too inexperienced. Take size away from Klitchko and everything else seems to level off a whole lot if the opponent is good enough. That always would have been the case. Tyson won lousy, but he won.

 

I am so happy the boring robot Wlad has been dethroned by an all around funny guy. Sorry if you're a Wlad fan.

Tyson Fury just outhustled Wladmir. I had such a strong impression this would happen. Fury is underrated as a result of his goofiness.

In all honesty, I enjoyed the fight. Although it obviously wasn't a war, it was gripping as both experienced moments of vulnerability and really it was just that one moment that could have done it, alas it went to the final bell and Tyson had raked up the points.

He couldn't hit Fury with a handful of salt and it was the same with David Haye. Just stop.

I told you for years this guy was overrated and you wouldn't listen to me.

 

Surprised but happy by the result , wlad looked confused and amateurish for most of the fight but still managed to hold with vigour. I'm still not sold on fury but well done and good luck to him , will wlad come to Manchester for the rematch or will vitali want to fight fury . I also think this fight shows that wlad has been overrated

 

I didnt watch the fight - only listened on the radio - but can anyone tell me if it was more interesting/entertaining than the Mayweather/Pac fight in May?

Its true that Wlad is well past his best at 39 but he was still thought to be the best fighter in the heavyweight division - nobody came into the fight predicting a Tyson Fury win due to Wlad's age and an assumption that he was over the hill. The commentary said that Fury was the one who had the range and Wlad could not work out Fury's change of stance and could not get past Fury's reach. When Wlad did try to hold Fury ( as he does with most of his opponents) Fury hit Wlad with hooks to the body.

Wlad was made to look old by a clever underrated opponent. I have followed Fury for the last few years and he is a very skillful boxer. He doesnt have fantastic KO power but he looked superb in his last two fights and has been improving over the last few years. I dont think he was ever likely to KO Wlad tonight but if they were to have a re-match I think Fury would win even more comfortably than he did tonight.

Not sure how any Wlad fan can say this defeat doesnt affect Wlad's legacy. He lost the title in the ring when he was a massive favourite to win regardless of his age. Fury had the height and reach to match Wlad and Wlad's had previously been able to dominate his opponents with his physical advantages.

 

Moral of the story.... There's always a bigger fish.. And bigger IS better after all

Wise words, Seamus! I had a sneaky feeling for Fury but unfortunately blew my online gambling limit on a pair of donkeys yesterday. :verysad

 

Wlad didn't look old nor past his best. He was up on his toes and used good movement and reflexes to avoid big shots and combinations from Fury.

If Wlad had nothing left , Fury would have got the stoppage.

Fury had the legs of Williamson and the upper body movement of Haye along with reach advantage and an unorthodox , switch hitting style the likes Wlad has never faced.

There's no case for any Wlad beating Fury when he struggled and lost to lesser guys in the prime of his career.
Fury's height , reach and movement is the antidote to his style.

 

Yes but it's getting silly now. This fight proved it. Super heavyweights suck. No matter how effective.

Can the biggest guys overcome reach disadvantage? Do tgey sacrifice skill for size?
