Yeah, but, Lennox Lewis at his best looked like that. And people on this forum rave over Lewis.

I say this all the time. Anyone who rates Lewis very highly should also rate Wladimir highly. If it's consistency and longevity that gains Lewis points, then Wlad matches him. If it's strength, ability, style, then again Wlad matches him.

Thank Christ for a sensible post!
Pulev should have been out of there after 2 rounds. I won't say Wlad should retire because he can make big bucks beating these level of opponents adinfinitum but a banger who is prepared to take punches and get in range quickly WILL BEAT HIM! He is very, very flawed.

Wlad has no inside game, is gunshy and will not go for it until he has a man at his mercy ,last night was about as re-active as he has ever been and his opponent was horrible!

 what, does that mean i'm not allowed to say it too? Calm yourself, it's a text based forum, just presume everyone you are speaking to can read and then try to appraise what they've said based upon that opening premise.

That's...nonsense. People have been trying that for years. Even the world class guys that have tried that have basically failed to win a round between them. NOBODY has had any success, at all, using the strategy you describe, and I mean they don't win rounds.

Your talking like someone who didn't watch the fight live, but saw it when they knew the result. It was really exciting, and Pulev's moderate success, especially in the first, had me on the edge of my seat.

Again, this is NONSENSE. Dimitrenko, who Pulev totally outclassed, doesn't have "the skill level of a journeyman." Wtf.

 what? Which fighter do you think hit Wlad with a better jab than Pulev - ever? He's got a superb jab. You are just making things up.

    Man, what a freakish post.

Not sure how anybody was impressed by either man.

That sort of 'boxing' was a good 2-3 levels bellow what you saw on Tuesday night fights in the 90's.

Pulev doesn't know how to box. Its as simple as that. Having only two punches to his game you would expect he'd have mastered them , but he couldn't even use the jab and straight properly - or frequently.

At least move a bit from side to side if you don't plan on moving your head and upper body , with your arms out in the air:patsch

For everything Pulev did badly , Wlad still wasn't able to out box him and only looked to gamble with a leaping left hook till it paid off.

Wlad is getting praised for throwing a left hook which is amazing. He should be expected to throw a left hook and a right hook, upper cut, body hook, 1-2 -hook combination, 3-4 punch combination etc etc

Whats boxing come to that a guy is praised for managing a few left hooks in a scrappy, uncoordinated , clinch filled mess of a fight.

Lewis would have done to Wlad what he did to Grant, go straight for him and demolished him , Wlad would have soiled his shorts and hit the deck. One Round BLow Out!!!!!

Especially against big guys that negated his size advantage...this is just what happened when really big guys meet, this is just what happens. It's especially prevalent in the case of Lewis and Wlad because they are perceived as vulnerable.

Wlad didn't look any more awkward than Lewis did versus Grant, or Vitali. It's just the way these guys look.

I was at my son in- laws 40th birthday party last night ,got to bed late without knowing the result and watched it on Box Nation this morning.
You are okay at making lists of stats , but you obviously cannot read a fight , or evaluate what you are watching . No point in continuing this.

    Precisely.

It's incredible that Wlad or Lewis can actually make a Pulev or Grant look so out-strengthed, out-powered or completely overwhelmed in some way or other.

Lewis went right at Vitali looking to fight, like he did with lots of guys. And tried to take them out on the inside..Lewis would not have been wrapped around Pulov like Wlad was.

Wlad never looked like Lewis in his life.
