Dempsey pretty obviously would have beat Willard with larger gloves.

No fighters, big or small professed to like the smaller gloves. "No way" would Buddy Baer be happy being made to wear big gloves against Louis. Fitzimmons, one of the smallest heavyweight champs, despised "the pillows." Is that now proof that smaller gloves are better for big fighters? OF course not. This is a non argument.

You have persistently painted the smaller fighter as the faster fighter. This, of course, is untrue. But insomuch as it is true (it's true as a lazy generalisation) it is also true that the bigger fighter is the more powerful puncher.

Therefore, cleaner punching is made more difficult for the ostensibly more powerful, bigger fighter. This is a disadvantage for the bigger fighter. It has been pointed out to you before. But all we ever get is the same repetitive stuff about the disadvantages that belong to the smaller puncher because this is your bag.

 have you seen how easily boxers go over from a clean punch?? What are the statistics, can you even provide any bare word-of-mouth type evidence? Or is this another non-argument?

Here's the rub: there IS evidence that an MMA glove allows for harder impact. The difference is absolutely tiny. Tiny! That's the SCIENCE.

Utter, utter, utter nonsense. Pseudo science of the worst kind. The worst type of posting possible because you go out of your way to sound like you know what you are talking about but you are talking total sh!t. The above, is nonsense.

The difference between a boxing glove and a bare (or wrapped) hand is significant - up to 25 percent again. The difference between a boxing glove and MMA glove is about 4 percent

The difference between what you are calling "big gloves" and "small gloves" will be almost nothing. Almost nothing.

    Nonsense. Total BS.

    Surely Valuev isn't a super-heavyweight.
He's certainly a least a whole size up from the Furys, Grants and Wachs, Ustinovs, Prices, Vitalis (who are on the large end of the SHWs mentioned), nevermind Ridd!ck Bowe (who was only a little bigger than Ali and Holmes, in truth).

    Valuev's at least a super-super-heavy, perhaps a super-super-super-heavy.

That is debatable, but I think Browne and Parker are a bit better ( and heavier ) in comparison to Glazkov and neither made the cut. Well, Browne is in fightnews.com top 10.

Heavies are getting bigger. That's just how it the game works. Even Max Kellerman, a big fan of smaller heavies has come around. To paraphrase he said something like the division is so big and strong now, that current heavyweights should expect 2-3 knockout losses.

He's right, but the skill level outside of Povetkin and a motivated Wlad in the top ten isn't very good.

If Wlad lost his will to compete, we are about to enter an age of heavyweight boxing where there won't be a clearly defined champions, and belts will be passed around like musical chairs.

The good news is I think the 2016 Super Heavyweight field ( Depth and talent ) is the best I've seen. Better than 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012. Trust me on that one! By 2020, the divisional mess will be cleared up.

Valuev is an unusual human being. A hairy giant with a gargantuan head. Valuev might have more non-human DNA than most. Science shows about 3% of European and Asian DNA is Neanderthal, and 5-7% came from Viruses.

I think you have some decent hopefuls as it is.. Joshua is certainly looking pretty solid as is parker. And Wilder may yet surprise us.

And a true master of the sweet science, which is why he's earned the nickname Sugar Nikolay Valuev.

The style hasn't changed that much. Look at how Lewis fought Holy and Tua.
