    Round 1 - Tarver
    Round 2 - Tarver
    Round 3 - Jones
    Round 4 - Jones
    Round 5 - Jones
    Round 6 - Even
    Round 7 - Tarver
    Round 8 - Tarver
    Round 9 - Jones
    Round 10 - Tarver
    Round 11 - Jones
    Round 12 - Jones

    6 - 5 - 1 Jones

Jones looked a bit nervous in the early rounds but started to adjust well as they went into the middle rounds. After the 6th, they started to go back and forth, and in the end, Jones edged it out. I think Roy clearly won it, but I'm not surprised at the differences in everybody's scores here- It was a very tricky fight, and there's many ways you could interpret a few of the rounds. I'm sure that if I watched the fight over, my score would be different. Overall, it was nice to return to this fight and see how it holds up now.

I turned off the sound and listened to an O.C. record instead, so that I could see the punches clearly without any of the commentary possibly polluting what I felt about the fight. I think that it definitely helped me in the long run.

Tarver looked pretty good and quick in this fight, but overall, he was on and off with the effectiveness of his jab- And in a lot of the rounds he'd let off these big combinations while Roy was in the corner, but was unable to do much more.

Jones overall looked pretty effective with his work to the head and the body, though he probably could've taken advantage of certain openings more. In one of the earlier rounds, I remember him throwing the same exact sequence to Antonio's body so many times that I thought that something was wrong with the video- But it worked every time. He probably could've gotten more rounds on his side if he wasn't so seemingly tired, but he was declining by this point, so I can't exactly blame him.

This was a fun rewatch, I look forward to knowing which fight we're doing next.

    Here's how I scored:
Antonio Tarver vs Roy Jones Jr I
    Round 1 10-9 Tarver

    Round 2 10-9 Tarver

    Round 3 10-9Jones

    Round 4 10-9 Jones

    Round 5 10-9 Jones

    Round 6 10-9 Tarver

    Round 7 10-9 Jones

    Round 8 10-9 Tarver

    Round 9 10-9 Jones

    Round 10 10-9 Tarver

    Round 11 10-9 Jones

    Round 12 10-9 Jones

    115-113 Jones
Overall close fight but clear win for Jones at range he was def having much more success with right hands to the body and avoiding Tarver's punches but anytime he was backed into the corner he took some hits but overall I think he def edged it.

Another excellent scorecard. I am glad we are getting to an agreement here that Roy did more than enough to win the fight.

I'm curious, how do You define clear? You have Roy winning 115:113 and 3 of the rounds won by him You marked as close, while all of the 5 rounds You gave to Tarver You said were clear.
When I think of a close round, I think of a round which can fairly be scored one or the other way. It would mean that in Your case, fight could be reasonably scored in the 115:113 Roy - 116:112 Tarver range.
Does not seem like a clear Jones victory, to me.

clear meaning one guy won the round by a massive margin

Close meaning one guy won a close round by a few extra punches landed.

I think some of the rounds Roy won, he won them by a smaller margin than the rounds that Tarver won them. But to me, the "close" Roy rounds weren't so close that they could be scored the other way. It just means Jones did just enough to win the round without thoroughly dominating.

I should have been a bit clearer in my language.

The downfall of Roy Jones. I had it 115-113 for Roy Jones but man he didn't look like the superman Roy we were accustomed to seeing before he moved up to fight Ruiz.

I think Roy made a mistake coming back down so fast , he lost alot of muscle mass just to make 175 and it made him weak. Tarver deserves his credit tho, he made it a tough fight but I don't think Tarver was robbed like he claimed.

he did show a lot of heart though. So it displayed a side to him we hadn't seen before. Agreed that he shouldn't have come down in weight so fast.

7-5 for Tarver in a very good fight

Tarver just had his number, which he was able to prove emphatically in the rematch (and in the 3rd fight)

Jones 7-5. Tarver spent lots and lots of time in the middle of the ring doing nothing, perhaps too cautious of Roy’s body shots.
