Lison outside the 10 is for **** and Wills is below guys he shouldn't be (including Langford who he dominated), but that's not actually as bad as I thought it would be.

    Great job.

The top 4 names are ok, but there are some weird issues like Holyfield out of the top ten :think

Oh well, democracy sucks sometimes :yep

I think it's actually a very good list. There are always going to be differences with your own one, but ESB's wisdom is clearly showing.:good

He's actually only 4 points away from the top10.... but i'm glad, i think Frazier (who is #10) would be a worse omission from the top10 than Liston would be, although you'd probably argue otherwise. :yep

Dempsey is just too high on that list.
Otherwise the names on it are top 10 material.

    Successful thread.

I think it's a pretty fair and balanced list. Surprising how high Holmes ranks considering he never received even one first place vote. Course about 90% of the first place votes when to either Ali or Louis, so maybe it's not all surprising in that context.

    Hi, Rumsfeld

My one suggestion is to check that 3rd place vote for Wills.

You posted current vote totals in post #88, giving Wills 15 votes. Up to that point, I've been able to find 3 tenth-place votes (3 points) for Wills; I haven't been able to find that third-place (12 point) vote that would have brought Wills total (at that point) to 15. It might be that, somewhere in the first 6 pages, Wills got attributed someone else's third-place vote.

Anyone who votes Wills as third all time should be disqualified from participating.

Good fun, but Holy out of top ten is ridiculous.

I suppose it has more to do with the point system established for this poll.

I suspect that with a different point system, Holy could be ranked higher, because he was mentioned in many lists; it is just that he is usually mentioned among the last ones, so he didn't gather so many points.

I guess I'm just tough on Lewis and a little on Holmes too. It's a solid list. Guys like Holyfield and Liston are borderline top 10 HW fighters, I don't see much to dispute in that so it's reasonable to see them off the list, especially since they're contending against the popular Tyson and extremely likable Frazier. As another poster said, Frazier being off the list would be far worse.

It's also cool to see Marciano 3rd. He's my favorite fighter and he's ranked exactly the same as where I put him. Good to see a bridge from 1-2 onwards as Louis and Ali are very deserving choices for the 1 or 2 spot.

Holmes is one of those guys who solidly lands around the top5, but rarely above or below. And rightfully so, in my opinion.

Good catch! Ironically, I had him down as your third place vote.

I'll fix it shortly. Who did you vote 3rd?

    :huh

This is where I must have screwed up.

    I screwed Jeffries apparently.
