Very much. I remember a few years back PacDBest brought up Mayweather vs. Pac when Pac just moved to sfw and people called him dumb, that PBF would be much too huge, how he even could think about something like that. Now, Floyd is in hiding from Pac. Really awesome what that little dude did. However, an unwilling Clottey and a Margarito for a >vacant< belt when neither did anything of note at that weight and at catch-weight, just diminishes what he did this year. Still great, still awesome, still up there and in the running. But I like Martinez more this year.

So was Lew Jenkins. So was Eckhard Dagge. Both became champs anyway. Yes, Quintana beat him and got beat down in the rematch. And Williams was Top10 p4p and a two weight champ with a win over Martinez anyway.

Yeah, I know. Neither is Martinez.

You are not helping here at all. :blood

I'm loathe to include Mayweather in the top 2 just because he only had the one fight. But yeah, I actually think it was an extraordinary display, and he might creep in at #3 for me...I could be persuaded to nudge him above Martinez to #2 I bet.

****, how about Montiel? 4-0 with 4 ko's including the destruction of the hyped Hasegawa? Hasegawa was really heavily favoured going into that fight.

Thats only because we thought Pacquaio to be a small man who couldn't handle the 147lb weight limit despite the fact he was a massive 130lber weighing 144lbs in 130lb title fights. It wasn't because Margarito or Clottey were great fighters, it was because they were several divisions up. Williams and Pavlik are better fighters and nearer prime than both those men and Martinez went up in weight to do it, albeit not as much

Pacquaio is actually only 2lbs lighter in the ring than when Mayweather was when he first moved to 147 and I don't remember anyone making a massive fuss over 'the impossible feat' back then

I think that the way the numbers fall this year, you need two high quality fights to be in the game.

Don“t forget Hasegawa moved up 2 weightclasses successfully, winning a vacant belt, afterwards too.

Nobody cares about this "he's as big as Mayweather" thing but you. That's your mad thing as a loving part of your continuing crusade to hype, "slick" fighters :D

Yeah, Oscar was heavily favoured to beat him. Nobody really thought he would beat De La Hoya apart from the pinoys and Stonie. EVERYBODY on both the HBO and Sky teams picked Oscar on size, from memory, although everybody did start scratching their heads when the unofficial weights came through...

Probably, yeah. And who really wants to see fighters who only box one fight a year picking of FOTY awards anyway?

Having said that, I thought he was superb against Mosley. If you were just talking flat out performances, then he'd be up there.

PP, you got a link to the 144lbs thing? I like that sort of thing. Like an unoffical HBO weight read out during a ring walk or something?

I'm sad there's no rematch. Too bad he moved up. I don't see fights with John, Lopez, OR Gamboa going too well.

And  at downplaying Margarito now. I wonder why we never saw Margo-PBF?

I was wrong, he topped out at 145, at 10:05:weight read out during a ring walk or something

Well he's just not going to knock guys out anymore. Pacquiao carried his power over that type of weight, co-incidently, but it's rare. By moving up, he's kind of pick-pocketed himself of the gains he was making as he improved his balance and that. I guess overall, I approve of the move though.

    Excellent, thanks chum.
