    I'm sorry, I didn't know we were talking about boxer's "CV's".

That's not the meaning it's considered with in this thread, nor this forum in general, regardless of whether or not it's dictionary accurate (which it isn't, you're correct). It's pretty much a given on here that a 'resume' is a list of a fighter's opposition and his 'accomplishments' are usually considered his awards, titles, secondary hardware, etc.

I've given a list of his opposition on the previous page. Read through it, it really is astounding the number of great fighters he fought and beat.

A résumé, also spelled resumé or resume; also called curriculum vitae or CV, is a document that contains a summary or listing of relevant job experience and skills.

People on here aren't wrong, just describing part of a boxers resume.

You're correct, I already stated that. Either way, it's not the way it's being used in this thread or how it's been used since just about forever on this site. It's more convenient to have a simple word for a fighter's list of opposition than to have to spell it out all the time, which is why it's basically evolved to having that meaning here.

Again, you're correct, and I've thought of this myself often. There's really no difference between a fighter's resume and a fighter's accomplishments at all, but it's easier to distinguish the meanings when they're used a bit differently.

  5. So can we say what exactly are we looking for - quality of opponents faced, quality of wins, quality of wins when relevant/prime etc.

It's too subjective - if just going by straight quality of wins, Calzaghe has wins against both Hopkins and Jones Jr - WOW, very nice etc. etc. Only we all know, that's not the full picture.

If you're just going to go by opponents faced - Pep has a great shout, he fought just about everyone in his division (literally) during an entire era.

If we're considering quality of opponents faced - result notwithstanding, Greb/DLH have great shots.

If just quality wins etc. the answer changes again.

otherwise - we'll be arguing pointlessly time and time again about what consitutes a great "resume"

I know most people on here see it that way, not just yourself. But when using the word 'resume' everyone on here isn't doing it right. I said on another thread last week, Leonard's resume is padded due to winning two titles in one fight against Lalonde.

The main thing looked at on a C.V is work history, which on a boxers C.V would obviously be his entire fight record. Not only does Duran have Leonard on his resume, but moving up from lightweight and winning the WBC title are also parts of it.

Asero is actually correct. I have in the past just went along with everyone else.

Fighter of the year awards would also be part of resumes as well.

Is this a winning resume.or a resume of all good fighters faced? As names could well change depending on the criteria.

sorry mate, i always thought that resume=accomplishment=ATG..i never thought that some would use the word resume to mean the list of quality opposition the fighter had faced..

so when you look at the first post in this thread, you would notice that the names mentioned are those in the top 10 ATG...
