Byrd would peck his way to a win that would include a late-round knockdown. It would be a grand showing, complete with an array of silly faces and some exaggerated posing from Chris.
I like Byrd by decision. Byrd had too much hand speed, and was willing to use it. I never thought that Byrd was a boring fighter. It wasn't like he had a low punch output, Byrd just didn't hit hard.
Byrd would win, but Botha was a tough mofo. He fought till the end. His fight with Mike Moorer for the title was entertaining and he gave Moorer all kinds of hell. Before fighting Moorer he went to Germany and beat Shultz (later stripped for roids), and then proceeded to get showererd by bottles from the crowd. I always liked Botha, he had good skills (even though not the prettiest), and always came to fight, even though he was limited in the power and speed department.
:good Nice. I wouldn't say Botha was limited in the true terms in power.Byrd would be what I'd call limited there. Botha wasn't a big puncher but he could hurt you if he hlanded a lot.
You're right, but Byrd was slick and didnt get hit. Botha liked to get in there and get dirty with everyone, and thats where he was at a power disadvantage at times meaning he would hit and then get harder in return.
Byrd scores an 8-4, maybe 9-3 type decision. Byrd's defense was too slippery for Botha, and his hands too fast. Plus, while toughness and grit were Botha's main good qualities, Byrd wasn't exactly lacking in those things either. Byrd got up from that massive uppercut from Ibeabuchi that should have killed him, outlasted Vitali, took on Wlad twice and never showed a moment of fear despite getting his ass kicked both times, stood toe to toe with Tua, and more, plus he did it all when he probably should have been fighting most of his career as a light heavyweight or cruiserweight.
