No, I don't think so. He keeps leaving himself open in his usual way, trying to lure an opponent in, and he's walking forward and slugging it out much more often than he was used to in a long while.

Totally agree. I haven't seen the fight yet but I really don't need to. Jones is shot and Calzaghe is one of the 2-3 best fighters in boxing. This fight means little to nothing for either mans career.

Calz did himself no damage did he? He won, and won easy. He's been winning for a long long time. He mightn't be pretty or powerful but he's sure not on his Pat Malone there.

I must say i am shocked at the amount of bad blood after Joe's win today. Over in General most of the dozens that predicted a big Roy Jones revival have immediately changed tact and are now saying it was clear he was shot etc. Terrible form. Incredibly, some are even attacking Calz for showboating, which of course was started by Jones after he dropped him

Sounds like you may have been better off not watching :hey

I've got no sympathy for Jones, a fighter i often defend. He wanted to get to this position, talked the big talk, run with the big money - etc.

I'll take my crow medium rare please...Calzaghe did... what Calzaghe does...Win. We are looking at a great fighter. I'm getting on the bandwagon a little late, but I'm aboard. Great performance by Joe, you have to give credit where it is much deserved.

He was able to do little more than stand, completely shot and dead tired, bleeding profusely during the latter half of the fight, and Joe felt it neccessary to do nothing but clown and smile while further attempting to embarass and toy with a fighter who offered little to no resistance. I thought Joe's performance was disgraceful.

I didn't expect Jones to do half as well as he did, so I hardly give Calzaghe any credit, especially given the classless way in which he performed. At first it was entertaining stuff, as Roy was right there with him, but by the end of the fight, the fact that he was still doing it and trying to do what he did to an old, burnt out, shot fighter was sadistic. I lost a lot of respect for Joe. I'm blown away that people feel this performance proved so much about him. To me it proved a lot more about Jones's heart. Very little doubt that Roy would've handily beaten him had both been in their primes, possibly by stoppage if Joe tried to act like a clown.

it wasn't disgraceful, it was entertaining. jones was the master at this behaviour and was doing it himself at the start. the mutual respect was plain to see i'm afraid . the showboating was tongue in cheek.
i was interested to see if joe would get any respect on here on what i thought was a good performance that only lacked the knock out.
    i shouldn't have bothered.
as far as jones being shot goes, he showed brief flashes of his old self and was still dangerous, thought he did well.
all in all an entertaining fight, which is what boxing/sport is all about. its all very well stroking your chin ,analyising everything but the name of the game is entertainment
