Well, the fight went 12 rounds, not 5, and hence more than half the boxing fans thinking Floyd lost that fight.

What exactly did he learn from the Castillo fight? Run or else?

He IS a great fighter though, he must be one of the best h2h at his best weights, i really like ranking guys historically by weight class (dont know y!!), and in that respect he is my number 1 at 130 ever, not the best competing for that spot with him, but still some great fighters have fough there who he deges imo

    Hello ACB.

I've seen it mentioned that Floyd didn't do enough with his career.

How much more should he do with his talent? This is hogwash! The truth is people want him to fight on until he gets his head knocked off. I'm not and never have been a fan of his but I think it's great that a fighter go out on top. I was hoping the same would happen with Roy Jones after winning the heavyweight title-to go out on top with no one having a hope of tearing him down. Of course his defeat came shortly after.

Finally a fighter smart enough to know when to call it quits. :D

Heavyweights often get a bit of a raw deal in pound for pound lists, for several reasons:

    a) They can't step up in weight, although they are regularly outweighed.

    b) At heavyweight, it's easier to get knocked out

    c) When thinking of pound for pound, people think of smaller guys

For instance, a guy like Carlos Monzon should rank very high, but realistically, i don't see why he should rank much higher than Louis: both dominated their weight class for a large stretch of time and defended succesfully against the best around. Yet often Monzon ranks higher than Louis. I am a big Monzon fan, by the way. Just saying.

Just using the first 5 rounds as an example. You can't obviously win a fight with 5 rounds in the bag. I thought Mayweather won the fight. Close, but clear. I couldn't give a monkeys what half of the fans thought.

In fairness, he displayed some superb skills, particularly at 135, but never really stayed in the other divisions long enough to really, really establish himself as a great in any of them.

Still, I've got him in my Top 50....and the Mayweather of 2001 was quite likely going to stay with any 130lb fighter in history, and defeat the vast majority of them.

Good question. I think HWs are underrated P4P. I havent sat down and put a list together But I rate Mayweather over Henry Armstrong but below Roberto Duran. All are the same weight pretty much (all started near featherweight and all went upto 147-160 at their top weight). I'd pick Mayweather and Duran to beat Armstrong and to fight a very close fight between them

If Mayweather and Louis were the same weight and height who would win? I'd pick Mayweather by a shutout decision or maybe a late round KO like Corrales/Schmelling fights

    1. Delahoya started at 135, he fought at 130 on 2 occasions and horribly weight drained to make weight, he also couldn't stay at 135 or 140 very long. Delahoya is natural at 147

    2. Delahoya made a career of fighting smaller men. The only fighters physically bigger than him he ever faced were Hopkins, Sturm, Vargas. On fight night he outweighed everyone else. He regularly weighed 160 on fightnight at his fights at 140 and 147

lets not forget DLH was 34 years old, very rusted, and years past his prime and floyd could only eak out a split decision.

.............This thread is kind of illuminating in a sick kind of way.

Look, I hate the little **** as much as anyone, but he was legitimately great. I'm kinda surprised at the lack of acknowledgement he's being given by a couple posters whose opinions I give some credence to here.
