But you said the same about Jones, who was only the light heavyweight champ, not even the cruiserweight champ when he fought Ruiz - yet you accuse Jones of hand-picking the guy :huh Why did Ruiz take the fight? He didn't have to, Jones (by your own admission) brought nothing to the table, not even a trinket belt. Are you saying that Ruiz has balls and WALDO doesn't? I think this is fact personally but I'd like to hear your opinion on this.

I'm also curious as to why you think it's OK for WALDO to take Toney as a non-mandatory and only fight Haye when he's earnt a shot as a mandatory.....scared, perhaps? Toney doesn't bang at HW, Haye does, and WALD does have a true 'glass chin' (unlike Jones)

Interesting that you ignored my point about WALD being starched more times than Jones too, by the way :hi:

Agreed, before Hopkins fought Calzaghe, I thought Jones had maybe a 20% chance of winning, but after I seen how poor Calzaghe looked, I have increased it to 65/35 in favor of Calzaghe.

How do you see the fight unfolding, and what does RJJ have to do to get the win?

Yeah, what a terrible career. Only a lead-pipe cinch hall of famer. Other than that, though...

Let me know when Wlad gets KOed for 6 minutes by a guy like feather fisted Glen Johnson. Jones has been knocked out twice. And I mean knocked out Wlad has always beat the count.

And yes Jones handpicked Ruiz. At least Toney had the balls to stay at Heavyweight though he has clearly avoided the bigger Heavyweights but I don't fault James for that he does not want to fight the "Super Heavyweights" around today and I don't blame him.

Ruiz has to fight anyone who is willing NOBODY wants to see him fight. But let's stay on topic and not bring Glass Jaw Roy into this.

Let's see how Haye's handpicked fights go before we get too far ahead of ourselves I have a feeling his admitted (yes he admitted it) Glass Jaw gets shattered well before he gets to Wlad or any other beltholder. :hi:

What I saw in the Calslappy - Hopkins fight was a guy with primitive skills get taken to school by the old master, at least for the first 4-5 rounds. Hopkins of 2001 would have done that for 12 rounds if necessary but I suspect it wouldn't have been 12 rounds, back in the day - Calslappy would have been out of there in around 10 rounds in a VERY one sided fight.

Jones at this point is different - here's a guy that's always relied on his speed and reflexes, both of which are pretty much gone now. He's showed signs of adjusting in the last few fights but I'm not sure those fights were ideal preparation for Calslappy at this point. I see it the same as you do, maybe 35% chance of Jones winning - whereas if Calslappy actually had a pair of balls and they'd fought when they should have fought I wouldn't have even been worried I'd have cracked open a 6 pack and some popcorn and enjoyed the massacre.

One thing I noted before the Hopkins fight was that Calslappy was very vulnerable to straight shots down the pipe and that's exactly what Hopkins was doing so succesfully before he ran out of gas. Jones hits WAY harder than Hopkins, if he can get that respect in the early rounds with the straight right then the fight is his, even though he is past his best I still think he's faster than Calslappy....so that's what I'll be looking for. I don't want to see Jones doing the rope-a-dope because that will lose him the fight, I want to see him centre ring throwing straight shots, if he does that and stands his ground then I think he'll win inside of 8 rounds.

Firstly Jones actually beat the count in the second Tarver fight, it was a TKO not a KO - I know how important that is to you ******ed Klit-swingers

Was Glenn Johnson more feather-fisted than Ross Purrity, I wonder? I say no, personally. Of course you'll say otherwise but your hate knows no bounds when it comes to the best P4P fighter of the last 20 years :deal

So you don't blame Toney for avoiding the super-heavyweights in the division at the moment yet you hate on Jones for leaving the division rather than face Lennox or VITLAY? Clear case of double standards yet again I see....

Feel free to post where Haye has admitted he has a glass jaw by the way, as I read it he admitted that he can be hurt by a punch. Wow, David Haye admits he's a human being, stop press :nut I've yet to see Haye flailing round the ring whilst getting hammered by a B level fighter like Brewster or Sanders, his only loss was down to conditioning.

I have never said Jones should have fought Lennox or Vitali. The guy did not even stick around to fight Chris Byrd or Brewster or any of the other "smaller" Heavyweights. And after seeing that Glass Jaw we know why :deal

I would prefer we stick to the topic here and not turn this into a Glass Jaw Roy thread if you want to discuss Roy (since you brought him up not me) I will gladly start another thread.

Back to the discussion we will never see James Toney in a ring with Wlad Klitschko.

Oh and talking about double standards Hayes loss was do to fatigue but Wlads to Purrity and Brewster were not? You are an idiot.

Typical idiotic comment from JT produces a K bro hating convention :nut

JT has done NOTHING at HW except beat a shot Holy. I don't care what weight he started at - he's well over 200# so he's fighting at HW. Duran started as a LW and actually accomplished something at LMW and MW. JT has had a top career, but I think Duran was a greater p4p fighter.

Anyway either K bro - and other HWs - would destroy JT at HW. He was beating Rahman before the no contest. Big f'in deal :hi:

Great rundown Fightingweight, agreed on all points. I just hope Jones comes in the ring looking for a war, Jones doesnt have the quickness or skillset he once he had, but he still got the pop in his punch, as well good ring generalship, both of which he will need to use when he gets in the ring with Calzaghe. A Jones win would be huge for boxing, god knows we could use a personailty like Jones sitting atop the boxing world again.

Toney is doing nothing more than trying to get the spotlight. Toney is doing his best to get a shot at the champ. You watch....if Vitali wins, james will want to fight him as well
