I fancy myself as a bit of a collector. Anyone else collect classic fight posters, AP photos, etc? I'm also looking to put together a framed display of classic Ring Magazine covers. Any suggestions on particularly noteworthy covers? Here are some of my favorites from my personal collection: This content is protected This is my personal favorite. Signed by both Chuvalo and Frazier. Note Joe in the middle. This content is protected Tunney v. Dempsey Reproduction (The Long Count) This content is protected Another favorite in mint condition This content is protected I also have a bunch of newer stuff that I recently purchased off the artist Richard Sloane. The guy is incredible. Signed by the artist. This content is protected This content is protected
Nice. I have so much junk it will make your head spin. Most of mine is from the mid 80's on up to now. I have the Tyson Douglas Japanese newspaper, Tyson Berbick, fight poster, ticket stub, all his programs, 1000's of fights on useless VCR tapes, gambling coins, signed pictures life size Goerge Foreman and Oscar De La Hoya stand ups. Tons of programs, ticket stubs, fight posters, on and on to a Mills lane signed gavel, and a Naseem Hamed hand punching doll.
I used to collect boxing programs. Some of the rare stuff Louis/Schmeling II, Dempsey/Tunney II, SRR/LaMotta VI, Ali/Frazier I, Clay/Liston I, Marciano/Walcott I, Marciano/Moore, Louis /Conn II.... I love my memorabilia!
I have an original copy of the 'Illustrated Times' from London, April 1860, covering the entire Sayers/Heenan fight. Sold the Dempsey/Willard complete ticket about 10 years ago in an auction. Actually sold a fair amount of stuff for a fair return. Still have Tyson/Bruno ticket complete... England .............Tyson/Holmes complete. Plenty of stuff..... just have to stop giving it away.
Ring Mags, 1920's to up to day about. I have about a good number with Marciano on the cover. Even the one with the Charles Marciano fights, well the fight was on the cover, but no mention of the fight lol.
http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93252&page=15 Some of my stuff if you scoll down on the above thread. Got lots of posters. Mayweather-Castillo II, Hagler-Leonard, Bowe-Holyfield I, Leonard-Duran III, De La Hoya-Trinidad, etc. Lots of programs as well. Holmes-Cooney, Whitaker-McGirt I, Hagler-Leonard, De La Hoya-Chavez I, Lewis-Klitschko, Jones-Gonzalez, etc.
I collect boxing autographs. The prizes of my collection are Evander Holyfield 8x10, Roy Jones, Jr. 8X10 and I went to the Mayweather-De La Hoya press conference in Houston. One of the ladies working the event gave me the cardboard poster off the front of the podium the fighter's spoke at. I asked Floyd to sign it and he did and also put some black eyes and such on DLH's face. Note: the link to the EH pic is the pic. You can buy it from his site and he signs it which is pretty awesome. I've waited to get his auto for years.
I own this programme, plus the the one form Dempsey Tunney I and Dempsey Carpentier, have a shedload of real rare stuff from pre 1950, theres a few items in the album on my profile:good
i have never seen the appeal in this unless you get it as a memento from meeting the boxers yourself i do collect fight films though
i also collect some classic things...i recently went to an auction at a house where they were auctioning off a few boxes of ring magazines from early on. i was badly hoping to win them. i only had 300 bucks on me though and was easily outbid. i was pretty angry haha
