Theres are threads on the general forum befor about who is the better fighter.
I dont know how to start a poll but I'll ask the simple question.
Who is considered the better fighter between the two?

Both solid guys but Barrera showed more dimension to his game in my opinion and I would rank him higher overall.

Marco was technically a little more refined to me, and he also showed a greater capacity to stay disciplined. They both hold wins over one another, but Erik overcame Jones and Pacquiao, two fighters who overcome Marco. It's very close in a P4P sense.

I think that is a very important point when discussing the fighters. Morales when he try to box behind the jab and not totally go to war (pac 1 for example) could fight like that very well. He very rarely did that though and even struggled in that fight to keep it up in that fight, anytime pac hit he'd go mad and just throw straight back. But when morales wanted to show it he had serious boxing skills, he just preferred a tear up.

I agree that they are very close, Barrera has the clear edge in the series but morales a better resume if you take there 3 fights out of the equation for me. A toss up really as to who was better

The Jones that fought Erik was not the same that beat Marco.he was on the slide by then.

Jones never would have beaten Erik. He was fragile, and Morales was always going to put it on him. Makes no difference too me. Morales walks over Jones in '97 as well.

I bet it made a difference to you when Khan "put it on" Marco?.;)

Seriously though, there would have been a much higher chance of an earlier, less ragged looking Jones giving a better account of himself is the point. The win doesn't mean that much for Morales imo.

I agree, Jones went to shotsville pretty quickly, but at his best he had that strange way of shooting his jab and a nice righthand behind it, which gave Barrera fits, and Morales would have been susceptible to that as well.

Morales would have walked through it all just as an aging blown up Orlando Canizales had done before him.

Probably Jones had a **** chin, and when he got hurt he looked like Frank Bruno but it would have been a little more competitive he could box and use his height pretty good.
