Probably the best move he made was pulling out of the Klistchko fights. He just needs to fight some more quality guys and move up slowly. He looked like he was almost knocked down in the first round if the ropes werent there, and he left himself wide open on many occasions. Fighting guys with good technical skills and little power would probably be a good option for him.

Yeah, I always thought this was a smart fight for Haye. He really doesn't have that many fights, period, nonetheless fights against heavyweights. Ruiz is a wily old vet who knows all the tricks and even at his current age was a decent test.
Haye got 9 rounds in against another solid legitimate HW, it's only gonna make him better. His potential is unlimited, you see it in flashes like the one two he landed on Ruiz in rd 1 it's just frustrating to me because he could be so much better.

Yeah, I read that too. And his stamina is definitely questionable. Why does he have his hands up in the corner? That's bad for the blood-flow. It's an amateur thing. If he had the experience in his corner he wouldn't do things like that.

Yeah, although I like Adam Booth I think he lets Haye gets his own way a bit too much sometimes. They need someone else in there to work on his stamina and stop amateurish mistakes like that.

I'd like to see him with 2-3 more fights before he goes to Germany.

That seems good enough. Another member could be good. Definitely could use a conditioning coach.

Good post. He definitely needs some rounding out. I can see him having quite a bit of trouble with the reach of the Klits.

This is as good as it gets............Haye ain't improving...............and at this point of the game at his age he is set. There is a reason he will not come close to the K brothers in the near future.

Anyway, Ruiz was/is sooooooooooooooo done that is not even funny. I don't even remember how many years ago Ruiz beat a quality fighter................and still Haye with his "murderous punching power" as his fans claim needed a towel ( hello Tua ?) to get Ruiz out of there. At this stage you (when you got some zing) are supposed to knock has beens like Ruiz clean out.....Fact.

But what do you expect, typical Don King recycling BS, whats next, Golata or a missing link rematch ? LOL, the conquerer of the heavyweight division......................

Apart from monstrous left hooker Tua ,who else has stopped Ruiz?
I thought Ruiz was in decent shape and came to fight, he just couldnt close the distance .
Haye controlled things from the outside, and showed he has heavyweight power.Haye was caught too often by Ruiz' slow jabs ,and showed a lack of head movement, but got the job done in good style.

WHICH WOULD YOU RATHER WATCH WLAD & CHAMBERS OR HAYE'S FIGHT?

    This is my take.

I saw incredible talent obviously, but I also saw a few planes of weakness that a better fighter might have capitalised on. A great trainer could fashion Haye into something special by improving his satamina, correcting a few flaws, and adding a teir to his game.

Please. Haye was afraid to engage with an older and slower Valuev until the final round of their fight. Valuev is not a big puncher, but he can hit some. I think i know why Haye was gun shy to fight. He's got a bad chin, and might have some stamina related issues in a high out put back and forth type of fight.

Ruiz was even less of a puncher than Valuev was, and judging by the reports ( I did not see the fight yet ) much slower than he was a few years ago. Big punchers with a lot of speed are always going to pound on past their prime non big punchers as the landing for them is easy, and there is not much to fear in terms of the in-coming.

I'll give Haye credit for ending us one of the least fan friendly heavies of all time, but for true respect, Haye needs to beat a top ranked heavy not on the decline. He has already backed out of two fights with Vitali and Wlad.

I believe Chagaev who should get past Meehan will be Haye's best opponent.

Right now I don't have Haye in my top 3. Maybe not even in the top 4.

    1A ) Klitschko
    1B) Klitschko
    2 ) Povetkin

3 ) Chagaev, if he beat Meehan. Chagaev has a much better heavyweight resume, and beat a fresher version of Valuev.

Povetkin has had a significant period of inactivity and I am not certain that he is at his best form.

Chagaev I think has seen better days as well.

The realiuty might well be that Haye is the #3 guy in practice.

First off, fair dues to Haye for winning. He won fair and square. Secondly, Ruiz is shot as a fighter and must have a better manager than the Beatles to get so many title fights
Personally i thought the fight, well ruiz anyway, was woeful skillwise, and if this is a truly bonafide titlefight and a sign of things to come, then the division is in a worse state than i originally thought (if thats possible).
There was another thread with a tiny minority questioning whether Jerry Quarry was overated. Well Jerry must be turning in his grave at those 2 being champions/ex champions. He wuda KO'd the pair of them

Other grab fest with Ruiz, lets hope Haye could end this after 7 years.

    Opps, the fight is over?

    my thoughts to a T.

Haye is about the 5th or 6th best heavy around... on his best day.

    I disagree.

Obviously we have to alow the Klitschko family the top two slots.

Chagaev is prety much a spent force, and I don't know if Povetkin is on top form at the moment.

I fancied that Chambers was the #3 guy for practical purpouses going into his fight with Wlad.

I think that Haye is definitely the biggest challenge out there for either Klitschko.
