This fantastic fight is only a few days away. Two of my favorites; Marquez may well be the most skilled fighter around today, while Diaz is an up and coming boxer with great technique, as well as workrate and handspeed.
I'm really looking forward to this fight. Diaz is a very big lightweight, while Marquez is still basically a featherweight. I thought JMM beat a motivated Casamayor last time out, IMO an excellent win. In this fight, I'm thinking that Marquez's very sharp counter punching and footwork, will be the difference against the oncoming Diaz. Not taking anything away from Diaz, he's a good fighter in his own right. JMM just might have a tougher assignment than Pacquiao has against Hatton, but we'll see. I think Diaz will outwork JMM for the most part during first four rounds, but JMM will be scoring the harder punches even though he is the smaller man. Just guessing, but I think JMM will hurt him badly around the fifth, and slows Diaz down considerably. During rounds 8, 9, and 10...Those blows will add up. If Diaz continues to attempt to press the action, he'll get stopped...if he backs off, he loses a UD (even in Houston) I'm looking for another technical performance from JMM. I think JMM demonstrates top shelve skills and technique, IMO, a great fighter. JMM by TKO 11th round Pac/JMM at 140? You bet!!! Start beating the drums!!!
There are valid reasons in both camps, it should be a good fight. I favour Marquez based upon footwork, judge of distance and generalship. It doesn't hurt that Diaz's chances, in this fight, are based primarily upon getting inside and Marquez has one of the best uppercuts in the game. I, too, think Marquez could, by way of Diaz's nature force a stoppage. But let's be clear, this is exactly the type of fight an old fighter starts to look old in. Marquez TKO 11 is my pick, for the record.
i can see diaz bulling his way forward but JMM catching him as he comes in alot and winning rounds with counters but Diazs workrate never rules him out
