I watch them fight in the context thats being debated and Not when they were fighting in three round bouts against novices. You need to learn something about the sport
The inactivity and the top guys failing to face each other is killing the division like a malignant tumor.
You completely invented the bolded. I never said people had negative things to say about Usyk, I said they aren't hyping him up like they do with huge, undefeated super heavies. You have once again proven to have horrendous reading comprehension. P.S I will openly talk about your horrible takes so long as you keep posting them. Feel free to log out or block me if that bothers you.
Zhang and Joyce are about the same age only a 2 year difference. If were going to dismiss Zhang based on age we could do the same for Joyce
I thought Zhang looked far more rugged and physically solid than Joyce. Joyce just looked well and truly outmatched from round 1.
Made me hungry for heayweight boxing again. There is so much missing because of the modern "X-0" record until you get a mandatory shot to cash out and fade into irrelevancy. Many of top 10 fighters might have been baptasized and forged in fire to overcome natural talents if there was an incentive to do so. It was also rather terrifying how clueless Joyce looked against a southpaw. By the 3rd and 4th his corner got him working and applying the ancient solution against a better boxer--move in and work inside. Too late as by then as he got his face rearranged while Zhang controlled the pace and distance completely, without having his breath pattern broken once. I reckon Joyce can win a rematch, but he needs adjustments. More fluid guard perhaps. Better, or at least more forceful, control of the centreline. A rudimentary crossguard to deny exchanges when he isn't ready for one perhaps. All that said, I fear that with his jab out of the game Joe simply has no way of starting to work his plan. Makes you think how easily Foreman would be able to conrol the pace and engages.
Joyce is tough but gets hit too much, Zhang was composed and a tricky southpaw .... Joyce has an incredible chin, but the stop was in time because he was staggering and blindsided and the end would have only been worse. I am not sure how well Zhang would do against speed and movement or in a shootout with a banger, but he is certainly capable and a risk for anyone in the top 5 and below. Fury had trouble with Southpaws and Zhang has power so risky, but I put my $ on Fury if he can get back into the condition, he was in for Wilder2. With Wilder the speed would be on D.W, s side. and Wilder can hit but Zhang has shown a chin and durability so a risky fight for both. Joshua may be able to utilize his jab and movement and set a pace and take the fight late and although he has history against Zhang in the amateurs Zhang has improved. Zhang would stop White and Chisora I thought the Hrgovic fight could have gone either way and both men have risen with the Joyce win. I give Joyce credit for fighting the best (this was a risky choice) despite his age he will bounce back but IMO he needs a bit more head movement and defense to go with his solid chin and consistent work rate. Slow but steady is Joyce who should fight White and the like to practice the needed improvement defensively.
