Henry Akinwande and Michael Grant would lay out Zhang and I don’t see them getting praised for talent or high level skill

I had the same observation about Joyce that I had before, he at times likes to take punches flush on his face with no head movement. In fact, prior to the fight he was even joking about it on Twitter with that post about how he takes a shot and doesn't blink or something like that. Zhang's a "39 year old" with a bad gas tank who I thought would eventually crumble under the pace of the fight and the pressure Joyce usually brings (which he didn't). I thought the ref and doctor stopped it too soon, Joyce passed the doctors eye tests (unless there was a real worry that Joyce had a broken orbital), should of given him and his corner a round.

I thought and still think Howard Foster (the ref) should find another career path.

Joyce is still a contender on limited time because of his age and Zhang even more so. Heavyweight fighters need to turn pro earlier than these two

They were significantly smaller than Zhang. I’ve seen the man in person.

    Try again.

    Also they weren’t better.

I didn’t think Zhang was going to be that much bigger and stronger than Joyce. It was a surprise.

What reason is there to favor Grant? I think he should be at least favored over the likes of Grant

Against Forrest he was probably out of shape and had his performance impacted by dehydration which landed him in the hospital (our resident renal expert @swagdelfadeel can tell us about that). He still escaped with a draw unlike Foreman in San Juan though.

I think a guy like Sanchez would beat him using a disciplined gameplan. He was obviously wrong for Joyce in hindsight. He might give AJ problems.

    - Grant peaked at a younger age
    - Grant had the size and power to match him and was in much better shape
    - Grant compiled a 30-0 record by beating dangerous customers like Andrew Golata, Ross Purity, Jorge Gonzalez and lionel butler. These weren’t great opponents but they were high risk low reward opponents. Zhang at 39 years old hasn’t beaten anyone except Joyce and lost to a 14 fight Hrgovic and drew with Jerry Forrest.

Both of those guys were 6’7” and Grant was like 250 lbs of muscle when he fought Lewis.. significantly smaller ? Or significantly less fat ?

Smaller. Akinwande was a beanpole and Grant carried bulked muscle. Zhang is in the 270s without a bulked look.

Zhang is bigger than Joyce. Joyce is bigger than Hrgovic, Grant, and Golota. Hrgovic, Grant, and Golota are fairly similar in size. That’s the order here.

Well the usual hype train gets derailed again, Joyce is fantastic ,he'd beat Frazier and Foreman and little Mike Tyson is tailor made for him. Next stop!! Reality,,,,he;s basically an old amateur with 15 pro fights who got taken apart by an old man who has some boxing abilities. I thought Joyce would have to grind him down to win and with Zhang's stamina problems it seemed rational. But all Joyce did was follow him around and eat lefts to the face which took nothing out of the big Chinaman . He was basically sparring . Now that the Joyce derailment is over lets put Zhang on the same track as the next hype lord of boxing ....P.S.--- This fight sure puts Joyce's win over Parker in a different light. Parker looks much worse now

Of course, you find another reason to bring up Foreman in a thread that has nothing to do with him. Your obsession is worrying. Seek help.

How'd that report of your's go by the way?

And Hrgović beat Zhang despite being smaller than him and comparably sized to grant and akinwande.

Maybe we should start fantasy fight threads now featuring Jerry Forrest vs Ali, Foreman, Louis etc
