I guess I just like fighting, cause I like and watch both sports. MMA is more versitle than boxing and unless the boxers are going for broke (ie Ward-Gatti) it's also more entertaining. As to who would beat who, for sure a boxer would win at just straight boxing. As for MMA, I think a boxer has a chance depending on the fighter. A Chuck Liddell who likes to stand up and strike probably has less of a chance at winning against a boxer than someone who prefers the ground and pound game, assuming he can get ahold of the boxer before getting tagged, which isn't a given. The heavier weights seem to stand up more, particularly the light-heavy weights, who would be cruiser or small heavyweights in boxing since the UFC light-heavy weight limit is 205. One also has to notice that the UFC uses four ounce gloves with open fingers..a boxer could really do damage with a glove like that. Also not much body punching in MMA relative to boxing.

I have to admire both the skill and toughness of MMA fighters, but the sport is simply too brutal for me to sit there and enjoy it. Guys getting kneed and elbowed in the face while already being severely injured just doesn't belong in the 21st century.

I've seen alot of it on TV and have even been to a MMA card, though local. It's even more brutal in person. I appreciate their skill and courage but it seems to rely more on sheer, overpowering aggression most of the time, and so looks like a street brawl. The Sweet Science can approach the artistic. MMA really can't in my opinion. Boxers are more specialized and so are more strategic. It's hard to think about what you are doing when you have to look for not only 2 fists, but elbows, knees, feet, and all that.

Boxing seems more cerebral while the MMA is more about adrenalin.

I agree and feel the same. However, MMA is a safer sport than boxing -in terms of fatality and long term brain damage.

    Silly statement.

The 'sport' hasnt been going long enough to find what long term effects it has on the competitors.

Correct. In years to come we may see the effects. I wonder what would happen to the sport if there is a fatality. Combine how brutal it appears to be with a tragedy and you'll see a severe backlash against it.

The one thing going for MMA/UFC is that the contests dont seem to last that long in comparison to Boxing, where a lot of the fatalities have occured in brutal long bouts.

    --which is exactly the point.

In addition, once you are down and catching unanswered blows to the head in MMA, it's inevitably stopped, in boxing if you get caught and go down, you can get up and get a standing 8. That gives you time to regroup --which isn't exactly good for your brain because if you're tough, the beating continues.

Long term beatings are demonstrably more dangerous than quick KOs or submissions which are relatively safe. There's nothing silly about that. It's a fact.

Time and study may see more fatalities in MMA, but we know what the usual reasons are for boxing's fatalities and MMA doesn't have them. Boxing is the more dangerous sport.

Good man. Same here, i dont mind some of the original UFC stuff, when it was one discipilne against another and Royce Gracey tore the place up, great that family of Jiu jitsu legends. But i just cant watch it now. Though i would watch Tank Abbot again!

Boxing is the best and that is simply that.

6.) curse as often as possible, if u can get the f bomb in, thats all the better, it doesnt get more :scaredas:HARDCORE:fire then that.

7.) start or finish every sentence off with dude, bro(or bra if your feeling particularly dangerous), or man. now, the important part here is you gotta say it like a surfer, or else it doesnt work.

8.) learn to do that funny little roc n roll sign with your fingers where u stick your pinky and pointer finger up(modified shocker). make sure to make a rediculous face when doing this i.e. tongue out, nodding your head as if to say " oh yeah baby you ve done it now" in your narliest voice.

It's a messy 'sport' without a strict dynamic.

If Fedor took one straight right hand from either Klitschko he would be knocked into a coma, especially wearing those little ass 4 oz gloves. I remember watching Fedor against Cro-Cop, he was rocked a few times in that fight, and he punches nowhere near the force of either Klit. If it was a street fight, it would depend on who gets their move off first.
