Surely ali, srr, and pbf just had totally different careers in totally different eras? they're all greats... comparing eras that far apart is just daft.
Idk wether this is true Sam Langford touches gloves of opponent Opponent: Whats the matter? it isn't the last round Langford: It is for you Knockout
when a man says that PBFs achievements are better then SRR and Ali's we are talking about the level of opposition they fought FOR THAT ERA (SRR and Ali fought the best out there, ducked no one; Floyd ducked, dived and fought weak champions), and we are talking about belts won, and years as champion etc, which SRR and Ali both have as good and better a record then PBF. we aint talkin h2h and mythical all-time p4p standings.....
hmmmm... PBF did fight the best welter, was dominant at light weight and won a fight against (probably) the best light middle. While I would tend to agree that srr generally beat better fighters, i find it difficult to compare because they fought so often that maybe they weren't always in top shape? ali lost fights against comparatively weak fighters (Norton sticks out for me, i think spinks is just too late in his career). I think PBF carried his weight the best - but is that better than being dominant at one weight. I don't know, but I do think these guys all have pretty unique achievements. P4P and the notion of 'legacy' have a tendency to lead to silly divides in this sport.
Well, we have had two Langford calling it stories, how about a third? Langford- (to opponents trainer) What you doing with them oranges? Trainer- slicing them up for my fighter to suck on between rounds. Langfod- You ain't going to need them oranges. First round knock out ensues.
Yes... I remember watching that post fight interview.. Glen Johnson is a class act... Great quote....
