You could say TV was partly responsible for the 12 round limitation rule. 15 rounds ( 45 minutes ), and 15 minutes of corner time made it hard to fit a 1 hour time block.

But with 12 rounds, there is more time for commercials, and no chance for going past an hour.

I havent read Silvers book and I suspsect some of those critcising it havent either.I know he interviewed Roach Kaplan Steward and many fighters .You are right there are fighters today that could hold their own in any era Pacman, Mayweather,JMM, etc.I do feel Hopkins would never have had such longevity if he had fought it the 40's and 50s though.
