Classy Clottey should join the Nazim Richardson camp!

Brilliant post I had Clottey winning it by 1 round.

Just a quick word, off topic before everyone steamrolls this.

Why cant we just respect the fighters. For example I loved Clottey discipline throughout the fight that hight guard really did work wonders but I was also just as impressed with Cottos attitude towards the cut, round after round he never gave the doctors any kind of indication that he couldnt see...and lets be honest there were clearly times where he couldnt.

back to topic.

I totally agree what better man to take clottey on . I really think this would be a match made in heaven. Clottey is clearly a very disciplined fighter very orthodox but a underrated boxer.

I think Nazim could teach clottey alot of new tricks lets be honest (knockdown aside) I thought his chin looked very good. Even after sitting on the ropes for round 6 he still looked ok...now theres not many fighters in the world that could do that with cotto

 

I don't think Clottey will ever be the Hopkins of the WW division. He is too comfortable and set in his ways with that defense of his. I don't know anyone else that would be happy and confident to lay against the ropes with Miguel Cotto punching them.

Hopkins would never even dream of taking a punch that he could slip away from.

I do agree however that a top trainer such as Richardson would really help Clottey out.

 

his only weakness i felt was his workrate he could of popped a jabbed a bit more.




what about winky's trainer, Dan Birmingham?

 

Clottey has nowhere near the versatility of a hopkins or mosley. Let's be fair here, without the clash of heads Cotto would have won by a clear couple of points and Clottey would fall back to contender status. He needs to lose some muscle and get some stamina so he can throw more.

 

I thought Cotto stabed Clottey from his exsaggerated reaction to the "slam" or "fall" that seemingly felt fine a minute later.

 

*correction... I thought Clottey died when that happened.

 

classy clottey? from what i saw in his fight with cotto the guy isn't that classy... he did a lot in his most recent interview to prove me wrong, but it's all about how you act come fight time.

 

that knee "injury" was a joke. he was obviously fine and we haven't heard anything about that since he fell and acted like it hurt for a round...

He's still a lier, cheater, B level fighter with a lack of heart. He couldnt finish a fight to save his life.

I think that would be a great move on Clottey's part...Nazim would be a more fitting trainer than the trainer Clottey has right now...I think Nazim will grill his ass when he needs to..think of a better game plan for him and have him more focused on his gameplan.
