The way he was bouncing around like a ******ed golden retriever was ****ing annoying. Why the hell he has to flop his head from side to side when he is on the move baffles me. Please Joe Silva, put him back in with Diego Sanchez again so we can see that stinking wig getting punched around the cage.
Am I the only one who thinks Guida rocks! the guy is just a bizarre specimen of cage fighter and you need characters like that. I mean to call him unorthodox is an understatement but the guy is a non stop cardio machine who tires his opponent out with just his ****ed up movement! that sub was decent as well. I like the fact that he isn;t blessed with supreme skills but doesn't pretend to be something he is not. No he's not a KO artist, or a sub specialist, he's just this ball of energy that will push you all the way, regardless of his limitations. Surely you guys can see the funny side atleast??
A lot of butthurt ***gots in this thread. To be honest, if you're mad because Guida was bouncing around like a madman and thinking he distrupted Gomi's plan, you're too much of a fanboy to give credit where credit's due. Plus, Gomi was landing his jab like it was nothing, it's his own fault for not pushing the pace, the feinting isn't exactly the hardest thing to figure out. Blame Gomi, not Guida. I was over the moon to see Guida pick up the victory, especially by submission. Very impressive victories in his last three when I really was shaking my head at the thought of him fighting for the title. I really can't fathom any sort of disrespect towards Guida. He's a great fighter, he's exciting, he's shown he can be a finisher, has a spectacular chin, has an interesting persona, his heart's really in the game, FOTN achiever, what more do you want? I don't believe his hair is the reason for any of his success, if anything Gomi should've been able to tag him easier, infact I believe that's the reason why he landed his jab so often.
I used to think you were one of the most knowledgeable posters in this forum, what happened? Guida's a limited fighter, it doesn't mean he's not great. Sure, he lacks a stand up game but his chin makes up for any faults he makes, and you can't insult his ground game whatsoever. Plus he has awesome slams. I classify that as a great fighter, no mediocre one trick pony submits three opponents in a row, especially when they're also decent fighters in their own right.
He's not great. He's not even close to being great. In fact he's very average. That said i just dont like he's character. I find him painful to watch and he's persona is just downright annoying. All that ****ing burping, the stupid hair, the running around the Octagon like some crazed barbarian. Its way too much for my senses.
To each his own, but I really don't believe you can claim him to be very average. Few fighters would've made it through the Sanchez fight, nevermind getting a SD.
I love how Gomi fans are acting like he made the fight when he threw about 5 punches. They do realize it's possible to actually have other skills besides throwing haymakers? I will never understand people defending fighters who have done little to improve in ages while bashing Guida who works his ass off in between his fights. I absolutely loved watching Gomi fight in Pride but that was before when he had a good ground game, when he gave a **** about fighting and when he didn't give up as soon as the fight hit the ground. Every time Gomi loses the usual excuses come out. In pride it was he wasn't motivated enough, when Florian outboxed him and strangled him people blasted Florian for fighting a technically smart fight and now Guida mystifies him and chokes him out and it's Guida's fault. If Gomi had spent time sharpening his other skills he would of had the option of beating Guida in different ways once Guida adopted that funky style. Instead he's become so one dimensional that if he can't land a big shot he's ****ed.
Well go and watch chess then! Barabarians rule! this is fighting! If every fighter were a sanitized GSP clone, what a boring ****ing sport we would have. The fight game needs it's characters. What is there to really HATE about the guy? The guy loves fighting, and entertaining and is a credit to the sport. Would you rather everyone came in to the octogon with a Gi, knelt down and meditated for 10 minutes??
