**** Clay Guida & His Hair

I just don't understand people criticizing his movement because it "looked" bad. It definitely did look odd, but Gomi had trouble hitting him because of it and that is a damn good trick to be able to pull out against a guy who is known for having amazing one punch KO power.

 

Good win for Guida. He did what he had to do.

 

I find myself slowly warming up to Clay Guida. He has no technique but he uses his "wildman" technique very well. One has to admire his tencity.

 

Exactly. Gomi was entranced by his movements - otherwise he should have just thrown low leg kicks to slow him down and double jab to the body and head to find Guida.

 

He's sort of annoying, but he fights to his strength, and is know finishing people.

It was a very nice sub, only really really talented ground fighters have subbed Gomi.

 

Guida is like my 4 year old son. He can't be still for anything. I think the crazy movement was Guida's reaction to a patient game plan. Telling Guida to be patient is like telling my son to sit on the couch. If Guida wasn't pressing the fight, he just had to be doing something.

Seriously, I was impressed by Guida's ground game. Guida didn't just look to lay in Gomi's guard, and swing away. Guida immediately began trying to pass, a looked to forward his position. It was a good showing.

 

I think the "crazy movement" was part of his plan. Guida was using no-rhythm or off-rhythm as Jack Mosley might call it to offset Gomi's timing.

 

I agree, he is just like a less technical Dominck Cruz, who constantly moves with weird feints and weaves.

Also we can mark Guida as one fighter to immensely improve his finishing by moving to Jackson's; he has become far less of a decision fighter.
