    Clay became a better fighter several fights after Liston 1. (Liston 1 fight was even after 6 rounds). Holmes was probably at his peak for the Cooney fight. Holmes' heavier jab would neutralize young Clay's jab, and Holmes wins a close SD (being young Cassius would not get the officials leaning nods at that stage of his career).

    Ken Norton jab troubled Ali and Holmes jab was far superior. Holmes
    performance against Cooney was arguably Holmes finest just like Hagler v
    Sibson. Holmes too savvy for young Ali. Holmes on pts.

    Young Cassius was still developing at this point. Hard to believe it but he was. Holmes' experience carries him through to a close decision over the faster youngster.


    Larry avoids a rematch with Cassius like the plague.
