I don't think he ''cancelled'' that

I remember he asked Ali to be truthful to his word and crawl up to him and call him the greatest, I think he was in his dressing room after the fight

obviously he didn't give a **** and was just playing as he had just won very impressively anyway

 

Ali called a press conference to announce he had converted to Islam and to declare his new name on June 30th 1967 .

 

...and years before the Frazier FOTC :good

Not sure the motive of people referring to Ali as Clay circa 1971 and onward?

I couldn't refind that link , had it this afternoon.
Its not of real consequence what is , is the fact that he publicly renounced his former "slave name," and requested he be addressed as Ali henceforth. Most people don't have a problem with that.

 

Frazier won the fight ,and ruined himself in the process, he never scaled those heights again, imo.

 

He admitted well after the first fight that he lost the first one but did not want to admit it.
