    What is a clean punch?

    A clean punch is one that lands on the face or midsection of the body including the chest and exluding the arms and below the belt area.

    What is not a clean punch?

    - A punch too close to the crown or the back of the head. A punch partially blocked or fully blocked by the arms, shoulders and elbows. A punch slipped by the opponenet or otherwise redirected by some defenseive motion.

    what are the vital areas?
    - Jaw
    - face (nose, eye forhead, temple)
    - Behind ears.
    -Solar Plexus (heart)
    -Ribs

    these areas are from bareknuckle days. these are the best spots for ending a fight and keeping hands from breaking. While gloves allow fighters to take more rise with their hands now, the old style of clean, effective punching is still part of professional scoring.
    118=110

    what is the difference between amateur and pro scoring?
    besides the complete difference in everything, amateur is scored based soley on punches landed or presumed landed. it does not take into account force of the punches,
    ring suave, or other nuances.

    Amateurs and Pro are both scored by a 10 point must system, amateurs are pretty similar to Pros nowadays in that they are fought with 3 minute rounds, no head gear and rounds are scored similar to the pros.

    prize fighting is very different from the amateurs, you may win fights but you will lose fans. people pay for entertainment and action not dancing lessons.
