    Discuss.

Judges today place way too much emphasis on clean punching, which is utterly ridiculous.

There needs to be a complete revamp on the way judges score fights. Taking an additional point away from getting knocked down is also ridiculous. How do you lose most of the round, knock the other guy down and win the round 10-8. Lmfao. :drooling:

Knockouts are more catered to those who love watching cavemen box, casual watchers who don't REALLY understand what boxing is about. Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, it's about defense and avoiding shots.

Scoring a fight prioritizing clean punching takes the artistry and science away from the sport.

You are a ****ing moron. I can't even describe how much of a dumbass you are. It's a fight, FFS. The objective is to cause as much pain and destruction as possible. To hurt them so much that they cannot continue the bout.

Wrong again, this is the sport of BOXING.

    Hit/Don't get hit.

Boxing is an artform, it's a science. We all know defense is much more difficult than offense. That's why it should be rewarded in terms of difficulty.

No you're still just a dumbass. Hit and get hit is amateur boxing. You can leave this forum and go to the amateur section to type this nonsense.

    Wrong again, bro.

Hit/Don't get hit is what BOXING is all about - amateur/olympics/professionals.

    That is irrefutable.

You don't understand anything about boxing. No wonder you're resorting to attacks. I don't blame you though. Not many people out there understand boxing, you're in the majority!! You shouldn't be too ashamed!

In the case of a fighter being flashed or suffering a glove touch kd, a case can certainly score a round 10-9 instead of 10-8, provided the fighter who was kd'd was clearly winning the round to that point and after.

Of course, if the fighter suffered a hard kd, that usually results in a 10-8 round, regardless of how the rest of the round unfolded.

Clean, effective punching ties into Defense. If a fighter takes 6 shots off the gloves, shoulders, and elbows before landing three clean flush punches in return, he probably wins the frame.

No clean punchers should be the ultimate criteria. I love defense but if two defensive boxers fight it will make for a dull affair, some one needs to push the action. I also find mindless slugfests like Kamegai vs Karass or cleverly vs Fonfara boring.

What I think shouldn’t be given as much credit is when one fighter is going forward but not landing a lot of punches eventhough they are throwing a lot and the other fighters whilst seemingly move backwards or being more conservative with output lands the majority of the shots he throws.

I'm extremely confused with your post man.. What do you mean?? So they should score based on what mainly? volume?? Or pressure alone? What do you mean? Cause clean punching should and will always be the way to earn points IMO.. Thats the whole point.. Hit the other guy and not get hit.. I mean to each his own but that is the whole science behind it

I said it shouldn't be prioritized like it is today. Obviously it should be considered, but it's honestly not as important as defense if you think long and hard about it.

Avoiding/Parrying shots is IMO more important.

    first 3 criteria should be;
    1) trunk quality
    2) entrance song/entrance overall
    3) fighter's nickname
