Soon we're gonna have Gatti/Wards all over the place and no Pernell/Ward/Mayweather/Locche's.

Might as well rename boxing as well, to backyard brawlz 2.0.

Why would any fighter improve on their defensive skills when defense is so frowned upon and undermined in scoring?

It will always be punches scored. Making a guy miss using defense is already built into it. He misses, he doesn’t get to score. Diesnt mean you earned a point.

So NBA should start giving points for making the opposing team miss a basket?

    You are a dumbass.

Like I said, you really don't know TOO much about proper scoring or boxing at all.

    Next guy up.

If the guy showboats ... extra points, then?

    What about a little jig?

Of course it should be stressed the most. If you are landing the clean effective shots the other person's defense must not be good enough to stop it. If you are in position to land the clean effective blows you must have good ring generalship. And if you are landing the clean effective shots you are likely implementing effect aggression. That covers all the bases right.

    You should quit drugs dude.

The objective of this sport is to ko your oponent. To go to the scorecards is just a "patch" to avoid permanent damage in fights where it doesnt happen fast enough.

The best way to achieve the objective of this sport is to cleanly hit your oponent, and you are saying that clean hits shouldnt be prioritized. Well, I have no words, tbh. Bad troll thread? that's the only reason I can understand....

MVC! proves himself to be secret fan of face-first sluggers!? Because you'd get more of those if clean, effective punching is de-emphasized.

No, it is absolutely NOT. The point of boxing is to outpoint your opponent, hit and don't get hit and see who can fight a better technical fight.

    This isn't backyard brawling.

Boxing has and always will be a purely technical sport. Very similar to fencing.

If the sport is based on "hit", why should not clean punches score?

Defence scores in itself, it hinders scoring a punch from landing.

    Exactly, agreed with the op.
This is why I much prefer pure boxers like BJ saunders and Yurgen Braehmer over backyard brawlers such as Gervonta Davis and Deontay Wilder.

It should score, it should just not be prioritized.

We also know the defensive boxing is a much more difficult craft than offensive boxing, and that's why scoring should be prioritized for defense.
