Chavez Jr. is screwed. He's in a tough spot. He can't stay at 160 because he can't beat Martinez and he is killing his body making weight. He moves up to 168 and then he gets hammered by like 5 guys. May as well skip Super Middleweight and go straight to Light Heavyweight.

Which is it, do fighters lose their ability to take punches when they cut weight, or do fighters have an advantage when they cut weight and are bigger than their opponents?

the kid didnt even train and he made weight he is fine. But if he goes up to 168 Ward and Dirrell will beat the breaks off of him

If and when he goes up to 168 he'll be fine I think. The division is in the process of cooling off and will be pretty open by the time Chavez is ready to take on top-level guys, as we all know he won't be matched tough his first 2-4 fights there anyway. He'll be able to get away with it pretty easily too since the only super middleweight American TV cares about at the moment is Ward. No one could ever accuse him of ducking a non-entity like Dirrell.

This depends on age and how much lean mass they carry. I think some guys are more "able" to cut ridiculous amounts than others, but it should catch up to him eventually. Dawson was definitely affected adversely, but he is older and is not used to making weight severely below his fighting one.

chavez jr so far does not seemed weakened at all by making very low weights for his frame and body.

Sergio by 12 rounds of domination this time, Maravilla won't try to close the show in the rematch. That's what got him in trouble in the 12th of the first fight.

Same beating 120-108 Sergio Martinez :deal

Note this.. Jr moves but and his chin will be exposed.. Arthur Abraham's, Ward's, Froch's punches will hurt him.. Jr cant take them and will expose his so called iron chin..

He cannot bully them too nor can be put his whole weight on them during clinching, making them loose energy.. And cannot weight 20+pounds more than them at fight night.. That illegal ******* will suffer if and when he moves up..

I think he is worse off the higher he goes. He uses his SIZE to win fights and push smaller guys around. At 168 he would not have a huge size advantage and his fight game would resport to something else. At 175 he is average sized.

I have a feeling this will be the case too (though im not wishing for it, wouldnt mind seeing chavez in some good scraps at 168)

I just think when he doesnt have the strength and size advantage that he will be lost. The guys at 168 are going to hurt him too I think. And if its not in one fight, it will be in a few, you cant take as much punishment as he does and expect to be near the top for long (unless you have some ATG type durability, which I guess we will see)
