:huhSo if you clinch that makes you a coward? Reading your post kinda implies that you hate to see fighters clinch...Thats why Cotto gets beat into submission while the likes of Hopkins can fight on at the age that he's at now...Clinching can stop you from getting KO'ed as well.

It depends on how you do it. David Haye vs Mormek was a perfect example of clenching the way its supposed to be done. When your leaping across the ring to make sweet love to a dude and holding on for dear life then its over the top.

Fighting off the grasp is part of ring generalship. Im surprised that the poll has it right so clearly. This is boxing which entails some fighting, hence the term prize fighter. It is both an offensive and defensive technique and can greatly enhance your boxing successes.

No **** if Cotto would have clinched against Margo he probably would have won. With that said nothing would have stopped that ass whooping Pac put on his ass though.

Utterly and irrefutably cowardly. Learn to fight on the inside or you don't belong in the ring. Sorry, but most who choose to clinch do it excessively and do it because they lack skills in other areas such as infighting abilities or they have major defensive flaws.

Either way I think we can all agree that it needs to be penalized A LOT more than it is these days.

I like fighters who know when and how to clinch. I actually enjoyed Berto vs Urango. Thought Berto fought a really good fight. If I was his trainer, thats what I would have told him to do.
