yeah, it's the dumbest thing I've read today.

 

Yeah Canelo looking for that huge Caleb Plant payday. LOL

 

This dumb title is to generate attention, I don't like Cinnamon at all and even I won't think in my dreams that he'd be crawling back for Caleb Plant payday .

 

I had read they agreed to split guarantees of 40M/10M previously. Wonder what's happened since. I felt Plant was lucky to be pulling 10M, so if he does even better than credit to him. People wonder why belts get held hostage or why titlists don't fight the most dangerous opponents. Caleb Plant is why!

on paper caleb is the least dangerous out of all canelos future opponents (benavidez, charlo, bivol, beterbeiv, smith jr). Of course he wants that fight.

 

Imagine thinking Canelo crawls to promoters and not the other way around.

 

no it isn't.
it begins and ends with the federations.
one belt per weight division (thus making belts prestigious rather than common trinkets), one governing body (where the people who run it do not profit from sanctioning fees, etc), and one ranking system.

that takes away the power of the canelo's, the floyd's and the pac's, who effectively become bigger than the federations, to pick and choose who they fight and at what weight.

Promoters and all these boxers are not main players in this game.
Media and tickets buyers are A side, always.

If you demand 40m, there should be some way for media to get this money. It is business.
Ofc for media easier is to sell fights like " Unification ", " Undisputed " etc alike.
People in combat sport and these promoters think that they are very big. Media business doesn't care with what kind of events they will earn money: boxing, F-1 racing, soccer, basketball or comedy shows.

Ofc if Canelo had asked just some M, these promoters might had get such money from tickets sales alone, Canelo is good tickets seller.
If he asks 40m, then it is not so easy.

 

This is the fight everyone wants so let's hope it gets made.

 

but they can pick and choose and use catchweights.

 

If anything, PBC will revise their terms.

I hope Plant is training hard and is mentally prepared for all the politics and tricks coming his way.

Also, I hope this can clear the way for a Beterbiev-Bivol unification fight before the end of 2021. Zero excuses now....
