Wasnt so long ago Canelo clamed to be WBC World Middleweight Champ. But when ordered to defend it against GGG he balked claiming he wasnt a 160 pound middleweight & would only fight at 155 ROFLMAO He meekly handed back his bogus WBC belt like a coward. Now suddenly he fights at 175 ??? ROFL what a pretender he is

You might not be. But people are, he's presented as one, he claims to be one, he's globally recognised as one. As you say, this needs to stop and the only realistic way of that to happen is if they all face each other and atleast the one left standing has a right to call himself champ.
I think prize fighting existed before the WBwhatever. I think boxing would be better if everybody just ignored them.
No, today's system of boxing is pretty how boxing started. Instead of belts, back then it was based on a claim and the stronger the claim the more people took it seriously. Claimants would often fight each other to determine the champion. The problem today is much deeper than the belts, its that those holding the belts don't often face each other and title claims are too often disputed. Boxers can make money today without ever facing the best in any division they fight in.
Yes. That is what should happen. Sans sanctioning bodies. Let's go back to that. In this age of everybody knows everything about everybody else instantly, it should be easy. Who needs 25 corrupt alphabet agencies? The fights would get cheaper and the boxers could keep more of the money. It's a win/win.
I don't think that only boxers are guilty. Teams, managers, agents, boxers promoters wants to get as much $ with lesser possible risk to future earnings with this boxer. Events promoters are money hungry and does have a lot of different expenses. Boxing orgs are happy to get % and fees for belts. Managers and PR ppl loves belts and titles. Boxers families and relatives wants to get $ the more the better. All this together and yeah, months long negotiations, talks, then maybe next months and only then fight is scheduled. It is very slow process and looks that boxers usually are only small part in this chain.
Have you been held hostage for the better part of a decade? Did you miss the part where Canelo and Golovkin fought TWO TIMES at 160?
