We can’t say anything at all about it then, we don’t have a representative sample. That’s before you even take different sports into consideration.I think the biggest danger from those things is the potential health consequences rather than any performance advantage. Really the best evidence we have here is the fact that we don’t have athletes dropping dead or having serious side effects. As we know from medicine, effective medicine always has side effects. A big plus is going to come with a big danger, so if they do make a difference we can at least know it’s insignificant.

What Olympic boxers have been popped? I know in the pro game it’s a bit of a mess but in the amateurs they are rigorously tested, plus they cut less weight and have to fight on consecutive nights. You sound like you’ve got a bit of Russophobia going on, it’s not as if the Germans or Americans don’t have an at least as dirty history in this regard. I think the right thing to do is to believe innocent until proven guilty, and as a general rule to not assume or believe things we don’t know anything about.

I'm not going to state the proven benefits of steroids a third time. Add to that athletes in general (many of them boxers) obviously feel the benefits since they take the risk of using them. Just because there for ethical reasons aren't any RCT:s done on actual difference in competitive results doesn't mean we can't conclude that they help.

The Germans or the Americans aren't innocent, but not guilty on anything of the scale of what happened in Sotji.

We're just going in circles here. You obviously have a stake in this and is pretty useless to discuss with. So bye, bye.

I don’t have a stake, I just think your epistemology is really poor. Science doesn’t prove things, and evidence in one population doesn’t imply evidence in a different population - especially in an anomalous population. I’ve already addressed what athletes ‘feel’. That indicates absolutely nothing. We can’t conclude anything at all, as I’m trying to say we can’t even infer a single thing.

The German doping program over a decade makes Sochi look like child’s play, and in professional sports the USA has the doping championship locked down. It’s good to learn things before you make absolute statements. Bye bye

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out the obvious benefits of "performance" enhancing drugs in any sport or the other myriad of banned enhancements like IV rehydration or Platelet-rich plasma plasma injections etc. Why do you think all these boxers risk getting caught, because they do nothing? Anything to allow you to train longer or harder.

I’m not going to repeat myself, you can keep guessing and speculating all you like. I think you live in a fantasy land if you think boxers are risking getting caught, and if you think boxers (most who don’t actually earn that much) are just spending money on useless supplements (legal and illegal). Show me a performance enhancing drug for boxing - you simply can’t do that, so we are done here. If a boxer is so sloppy with their rehydration and planning that they actually need to use an IV, good luck to them

They're stacks (pardon the pun). Off the top of my head the numerous stimulants used to improve fitness. Since were talking canelo... Clenbuterol, reducing body fat whilst retaining both muscle mass and body strength at the same time. Perfect for someone jumping around weight divisions. Muscle retention at its finest.

Your missing the point, they purposely over dehydrate to make weight using diuretics etc knowing it matters not when they can be back to peak levels with a cocktail of IV doping, they can gain 20 lbs. There nothing sloppy about it, its downright cheating and banned. Yet another example of doping in fighting sports, weight cheats.
