Well, we'd need to see Cleverly against top world level opposition to be able to reach that conclusion. When Froch was fighting domestic opposition his power looked pretty lethal, yet this is clearly not the case. It's also most certainly unfair to judge Froch off the back of the Ward fight. Froch has landed on and stunned fighters on a higher level than where Cleverly currently stands. I wouldn't be totally surprised if Froch stopped Cleverly through an accumulation of punches to be honest.
I'd say it's because the level of opposition is better, therefore their defense is better and harder to hit. FROCH TKO 10.:bbb
I respect anyone's opinions .. even if i totally disagree with what they are saying .. :thumbsup I think a lot of people are overestimating Froch's boxing skills .. Lately hes had one good boxing performance against Abraham and in fairness he was always going to take a boxing lesson off Ward .. And before you think hindsight is a great thing ... i did mention this before the Ward fight. I like Froch , hes game and willing to fight anyone .... but hes pretty damn one dimensional at the best of times . I can understand why Cleverly would like this fight to happen.
I quite like Clev and I think at the moment Froch would dismantle him, which I wouldn't like to see happen. Clev needs to improve by gradually upping his level of opposition before he takes on this sort of opponent.
I don't see this at all. He is in a great division with lots of top fighters. He does the weight easily and can compete with the top boys. Kessler and Bute are great fights for him. I really don't see the need to step up. The reason there would have been was pascal holding the WBC title but that is no longer an issue so there is not a lot of point.
Would be a good high contact fight, but I think Froch makes 168 very easily still and has plenty of options there.
I would back Froch to win this pretty easy.I dont think Clev is ready for that level. He has never been in with a world class fighter,I like Tony Bellew but he is at the same stage in his career as Clev so that fight hardly gets him ready for Froch.
If this is a real offer, then I think Froch will jump at it. Bute, Ward etc perhaps a closed shop at the moment, Stieglitz and Kessler who knows? A challenge against Clev makes sense. I also think it would be a good fight. Clev is big and fast, he will pepper Froch with punches.
If Bunce is to be listened to in the Independent then Froch should now take the year off fighting bums. From the tone of his article there seems to be a fair amount of tension between the FW/Boxnation and Hearn/Sky stables, so where negotiations for Froch-Cleverly would start is anybody's guess. Maybe they could bring Arum in as a diplomatic envoy with Don King taking minutes. Bunce has a dig at Eddie Hearn but Hearn seems to be a breath of fresh air to the stale promoting game. Must be irking the Boxnation crew
had to laugh at the comment about clev dragging froch kicking and screaming into a fight....yeah, froch hates a scrap, eh? lol apart from Froch possibly being a bit small for a LHW, I don't see any reason he wouldn't school Cleverly.
