Could a prime Cleveland Williams at 215 pounds blitz the 199 pound Joe Louis? Or does Louis pick him apart? This is the Louis of the Max Baer fight?

This won't be a very interesting answer, but I think it goes almost exactly the same.

It would be over quicker, because Williams couldn't have taken the shellacking that Baer absorbed.

On a completely irrelevant note, am I the only one who thought for years that "Cleveland Williams" was a nickname like Tex Rickard or Indiana Jones? Then one day I looked him up on Wikipedia and realized "Cleveland" was his first name.
Who on Earth names a baby "Cleveland"? Did he have siblings named Detroit and Seattle?

More relevant might be would he freeze like Baer did?

No. But by naming a child Cleveland you doom him to be an also ran and born loser :)

I agree...Williams didn't have Baer's chin...the slaughter would be over in 2 rounds. Williams would have taken a horrible beating while it lasted.

Damn, I love this. I'm convinced that Baer had one of the greatest chins ever to take what he took before the inevitable happened.

Williams would go the same way as Tami Mauriello. He would get one good shot in, then it would be over.

There is not a single thing on film or on his record pointing to any other result.

I wish people would study film of Williams in a winning fight.

Jack Dempsey had to threaten him to get him into the ring ,you interpret that how you want.
Louis said himself he tried to throw the fight.

Max would have wiped the floor with Williams.

Pat Comiskey was a better contender than Cleveland ever was and Baer ruined him.
