But Williams is so big, muscular, and "modern"...

Too bad there is no film of Satterfield laying him out faster than Liston.

Can anyone who prescribes to this "froze" theory actually point it out on film?

Satterfield was pretty shredded too, but I think he was around 185-190 for that fight.

Satterfield was only 176, Big Cat had about 25+ pounds on him.

For reference. Liston outweighed Big Cat in their first bout.

Yes. Williams had 21 pounds on Billy Daniels and didn't look nothing. That was his prime too.

I have seen a lot of people named Cleveland, often shortened to Cleve. Sort of like Lincoln or Grant. Named after a president, but I can't blame anyone for not remembering Grover Cleveland.

*I am sure Williams was happy his parents didn't name him Grover. When Cleveland ran for reelection, his opponents taunted him with the song, "Grover, Grover, it's all over."

I don't agree that Comiskey was a better contender than Williams. Comiskey didn't accomplish as much.

*what the two share in common is that they physically look like very imposing fighters, which does impress at first glance.

As to the original question, I think Louis KO's Williams faster than he did Baer.

I would also pick Baer to KO Williams.

The most interesting match-up would be Comiskey versus Williams.

It's negligible really. Comiskey did not accomplish a whole lot and neither did Williams. I suppose I could concede a little toward Williams since he did manage briefly to hold his own with Machen in a draw.

Comiskey had 60 KO wins, 2 more than Williams and somehow achieved a higher rating than Williams though. Here is some interesting factoids on Comiskey:

I agree. Comiskey and Williams would be a real barn stormer!!

I think it could go either way.

Well, I stick with Williams having accomplished more, although there are quite a few similarities between the two men.

What shocks me looking at Comiskey's record is that he was matched with Max Baer when he was still only 19 years old. He hadn't really fought even top journeymen. What was his management thinking of? And then they tossed him into the ring with Nova.

There was a thread on fighters who were poorly managed. I think Comiskey should make that list.

Holy **** was he really that young? Poor *******, you can tell how crestfallen he is in the post fight interview, and see how the interviewer awkwardly tries to comfort him.

Yes I was surprised Comiskey got a rated so highly so quickly. His win over the British champ late in his career was quite good too.

Comiskey took a beating against Nova. There's s photo of him all cut up.
