Well, in his prime, Zora Folley was somewhat decent but he was knocking out tomato cans and was getting KO'd and RTD'd by cans well.
Eddie Machen was also somewhat decent but the names on his resume do not constitute a great fighter. Liston was extremely overrated and beat small men and tomato cans. Patterson was good, but he faced better quality of opponents after getting knocked out by Sonny Liston....he was 30 by the time Ali fought him so, he wasn't out of his prime, as he was ought to have more experience than Ali. Cooper in his prime fought and lost to a lot of nobodies and at 29, I don't think he wasn't in his prime either when Ali fought him.

With the exception of others, Liston may or may not have been in his prime in the Clay-Ali fights. His birth date is unknown so it's hard to say. Regardless, he would've been beaten by Ali. Cleveland Williams was shot AF which I have to admit, but if he fought Ali in his peak he still would've been destroyed.

Yes it's true that this era had more complexity when you take a deep look into it, but this era was brought to fame by Ali himself and the names in it were not impressive enough.

I always held Cleveland Williams in higher regard...he was big, strong, fast and hit hard his weakness that was made worse after getting shot in the gut with a .357 magnum was his footwork was bad...if he had fixed that who knows where he would have been
