Ingo's bingo gets Williams before Williams gets Ingo. Dangerous fight for both, though

This is gonna be a slugfest but I think williams has a BIG edge, Williams beats ingo in terms of reach, power, handspeed & experience. When it comes to resilience, maybe 50-50. I give Williams 4th round KO

Both could stop the other... I would shade toward Ingo to turn the trick. The man could stay out of trouble when in shape and land the bomb in the gaps.

Timing is everything. Being at the right place at the right time. Ingo was, and Williams wasn't.

Correct, Ingo destroyed no.1 contender Eddie Machen on Sept 14 1958 in round 1. Then stopped World Champion Floyd Patterson in the 3rd round on June 26 1959.

Basically this, Williams was also much bigger, and more importantly had 2-handed power as opposed to Ingo who was more or less a one armed, one trick pony.

This is the 5th thread on the same subject in the last 3 years. One of the threads lasted 27 pages. Think it's been done to death.

We have done this before. Williams just isn't in Johansson's league. People can site all of the subjective opinions they want, and the results still speak for themselves.

    BEST WIN: Advantage massively Johanson
    Johansson: Floyd Patterson
    Williams: Ernest Terrel

BEST COMMON OPPONENT: Advantage massively Johansson
    Johansson: KO1 Eddie Machon
    Williams: Draw Eddie Machon

    BEST ACCOMPLISHMENT: Advantage massively Johansson
    Johansson: World heavyweight championship
Williams: some kind words from Sonny Liston

    THE LOSSES: Advantage massively Johansson
Johansson: two losses to ATG Patterson
    Williams: 13 to varying competetion

Williams is not in Johansson's league, not equal to his legend, and not worthy of being discussed in the same breath as Johansson. He was tied for fifth best heavy of the era...

    Liston
    Patterson
    Johansson
    Foley
    Machon-Willams

Ingo is the better overall fighter and I'd say he'd be the one to land the first telling blow in the fight. However,,,Williams stood up to Sonny Liston's bombs for two and a half rounds in a violent exchange with the bear so Ingo would have to put punches together and be very cautious as I don't see him one punch ko'ing Cleveland. I make Johansson the favorite but not confidently and if I got good odds I'd take Cleveland. But not betting a lot.

What do you mean williams is not ingo's league ? ingo is just a boxer with 26 wins. while williams have fought 70 boxers including satterfield & had a war with liston. Williams arms are like TYSON. he possess both handspeed and power in both of his hands. I think he'll win via highlight reel KO. Watching ingo v patterson and watching williams v liston. Williams showed better skill and punching power. HECK ! even ali knows he has handspeed and power in his hands, literally saying this : "And a lot of the mistakes and thing that I do and get away the fellas, the fellas that I fought I couldn't do with because if he (williams) , should hit me. He could hurt me because.. he's fast and had a hard hard punch he broke sonny liston's jaw once." - Ali

I admit that Ali & the public still doesn't know that Ali has Granite chin, but you get what he was trying to say. And a disgusting Ali lover (I hope you're not one) would say that prime ali he would never duck people, never afraid, unbeatable, bla bla bla.. With Williams left hook I can see Williams v Ali would go like Terrell v Williams. Williams could tag ali, hurt ali but not beat him. Eventually, Ali would outclass & Williams will have his time tagging Ali. Ingo & Patterson is nowhere Williams at all.

Even ingo was afraid with a guy like williams. During the olympics, ingo was running away & was so afraid of him because the boxer he was fighting was huge and had a powerful right hand (Big Ed sanders was his name) Sweden saw this fight as a disgrace. While williams never backed down the most intimidating boxer in history he had resilience, power, handspeed, experience & athleticism and you're saying ingo was better overall fighter
