Williams replaces Rahman on the night that Rahman KTFO Lewis. Would Williams be able to pull off the same deal?

Maybe. Lewis lost that fight by dropping his guard and smiling at Rahman which is something that most good punchers could take advantage of

With Williams power it’s always a possibility.

It means that Williams would be heavyweight champion of the world

I agree and on top of that, Lewis came into the fight woefully out of shape, and failed to acclimatize to the environment.

As far as I know, Lewis was not in top form.
But the sound of Lewis hitting the floor...
    I voted for "I don't know".

I wouldn't bet on it. Rahman had a specific set of things that made an overconfident Lewis in big trouble, but I can't count Williams as having half of the equation. The Big Cat likely gets dropped early on and knocked out.

    Well put Ferg.

Honestly this is the worst version of Lewis that existed imo. People put forth the version that faced Vitali, but imo this was version was far far worse.

He wasn't "woefully" out ouf shape by any means. 4-5 lbs over his best weight in nothing for a 6'5" giant. Compare that to 5'9" Tua coming to the ring 20-22 lbs heavier against Lennox himself - now, that's really woefully out of shape.

And give a simple look on Lewis that night - he wasn't fat at all. But he was unfocused. I think being unfocused is even worse than being out of shape in boxing

It was mate. He was terrible, and I love Lewis.
Shouldn't take any guy for granted and not train.

Weight is only one factor tho. It was well documented prior to the fight that he was dogging training and spending too much time on set. He was undertrained which was accentuated by not acclimatizing. You are correct he was also unfocused and i'll add woefully overconfident.

As JT said weight is only one factor. He was not training, failed to acclimatize to the environment and visibly gassed very early in the fight, and in zero condition to fight 12 rounds had it came to that. That's absolutely not someone I'd describe as being in shape.

Lewis absolutely gassed early, didn’t he? He certainly wasn’t optimal in terms of both mind and body.
