I don’t believe for a second Spinks beat Ali on the level.

 

If it's the Leon who stopped Mercado, Big Cat's not prevailing there. Neon would be all over Cleve.

Leon's version against Ribalta would lose.

 

Williams clobbers him

 

Williams flattens him. Spinks chin and style spells disaster for him.

 

Watch Spinks vs Coetzeer. Just that Big Cleve does it with the left hook. There are heavyweights that could survive that left hook. Leon ain’t one of them.

 

There is a reason why Leon Spinks was moved so fast. He was that good. His record reads terrible but look at who he was fighting and where those guys were when he fought them.

And there is a reason why Williams was moved so very much more slowly. If you look at this record and where the guys were when Williams fought them it’s like chalk and cheese to how Leon was moved. And this is entirely telling.

For that reason you are not going to find a world champion Williams can beat.

Prime Leon is far too busy for Williams. Cleveland won’t find room to get off before spinks bundles him through the ropes. Williams don’t have Ali’s chin. If there is a 3 knockdown rule it could end very early indeed.

 

Terrible even by your laughable standards.

 

Williams had 27 fights against name fighters from a total of 94 fights spread over 21 years . So being very generous, from a 21 year career, that’s 75% of his record against non fighters. Take away the set ups. He went
4-11-1 against the best guys.

and he suffered two knockdowns against Satterfeild. Four knock downs against Foster. Four knockdowns against Liston. Three knockdowns against Ali. Two knockdowns against Al Jones. That’s 12 times he was hammered to the canvas against the best 13 men he fought.

Try all you want, for all his muscles, you won’t find a world champion Williams can beat.

 

This is a very winnable fight for Williams imo.
