Clever move by Haymon getting Wilder vs Thompson on the Khan undercard

Seriously. we keep hearing that Wilder is finally going to get a good opponent, then he ends up facing a complete bum. First we've heard that Wilder/Thompson is going to happen then Wilder/Harrison, the truth is that neither of those fights are going to happen and Wilder is going to get thrown in with another bum. I can't believe people hype this guy...atsch

Wilder may be on the hype machine, but he isn't getting beat by Thompson. What Thompson did to Price was a one-off.

Sorry for Thompson, he'll give Deontay a new look and some quality experience but Deontay isn't going to lose control of his lower body from getting slapped in the face. Price is good but his cheen is just discraceful.

Thompson should be fighting Seth Mitchell, Bryant Jennings, and Jonathan Banks. Wilder is just gonna be too much.

Wilder vs. Fury is what I want to see.

 

its not like wilder has to fight a top ten guy. just fight a guy around ur rankings .

and if he does go after a top ten guy thompson is the guy to go after just bcuz of age factor . but if thomspon was just a little younger. he would put wilder away no doubt an thomspon was never anything special just a guy who sticks to the basic and just works really hard to get where he is at wit the best of his abilities

What are the chances that old fat Tony Thompson,beats another young prospect right after beating Price? Very Unlikely.
Wilder has had a good resting period after his last 2 fights which were back to back.

Big slow Thompson will come right at him, eat an OH right, and then take a nice long nap.

Price was totally domination Thompson, but he made a foolish mistake: He fought on the inside (an uppercut) and then froze for a second. Wilder would never do that, he totally an outside fighter.

I don't see any way that Thompson has the speed to take it TO Wilder, and if he stays on the outside, he's just cannon fodder for that big right, delivered with an 84" reach.

There are definitely fighters who would almost certainly beat Wilder right now, but Thompson isn't one of them. Lord, I hope this fight actually happens.....

Thompson is pretty slick as well.. So you're saying that you can't see a guy who frustrated Wlad Klitschko with his awkwardness do the same to Wilder? Thompson is still very good, and I would not be surprised at all if he sparked Wilder who actually makes a lot more mistakes than Price does.

 

It's not impossible, but it's also not likely.

While Vitali was certainly (at that time) a MUCH better fighter than Wilder is right now, he was also a very different fighter. He was much more careful, more cerebral, and also did not quite have Wilder's power. Thus, Thompson had some options in terms of movement, and was able to move in and smother Vitali at times.

I just don't see it happening with Wilder. Wilder is still showing some holes in his defense, but ony a very fast fighter will be able to take advantage of them. I could see someone like Chisora or Jennings possibly getting inside and frustrating Wilder (it's the big question mark we all want to see answered) but Thompson is just too slow, especially now. In case you haven't noticed, Wilder is incredibly fast.

Also, Wilder has recently developed a VERY effective left hand, both the jab and the straight left. Vitali's jab is not exactly a deadly weapon. Depending on how Wilder chooses to fight him, that alone could be the difference.

Come on You can´t be serious, right ? Price was voted prospect of the year and some people were seriously thinking that he would beat a Klitchko.
Every time you see a Wilder thread its a a few "I hope he has some actual talent" and "class jawed fraud"...
