I agree. I'd quite like to see that fight as well. Wonder if the young man can oldman the old man? :hey
I also think Pascal was tailor made for B-hop, so long as you can get past the first 4 rounds unscathed, then you have a very good chance of beating him.... his low work rate, fighting in spurts, wild avoidable punches. So yeah, no-one has convinced me that Clev has no chance v B-hop, I'm certainly not :nutcase
If he tries to fight on the inside I think. I'm not sure if the Ward that fought AA would beat Hopkins, not unless he threw more punches, anyways. If he can get Hopkins on the ropes, get his head on B-Hop's chest and wail away to the body I can envisage him winning.
No chance. I wouldn't put Cleverly anywhere near him. No need to take that risk, nobody comes out the same after fighting Hopkins.
Cleverly is basically Pavlik without the punch power and chin. He would get schooled, beaten up and then stopped by Hopkins. I don't thinK Cleverly is anywhere near world-class, let alone the elite level. Hopkins would beat him even at 60.
Cleverly/Pavlik is a lazy comparison as well. They're not similar. Cleverly has a lot more variety and speed. End of the day, he's too green though. He knows nothing about boxing at the top level and you're gonna throw him in that deep water? It ain't gonna happen in a million years on Frank Warren's watch and rightly so. There are people like Adrian Diaconu out there to fight, not ATG's with that kind of arsenal.
I don't expect him to be fighting B-hop anytime soon but I'd give him more of a chance than a lot on here.
So you've gone from 'will beat' to having 'more of a chance'. About right. Soon you'll be saying he doesn't have much of a chance and you'd be right. He has no seasoning and is wide open for punches. He's far more open than Jean Pascal, think about that for a sec.
I was of course referring to the margin of victory, rather than comparing the two stylistically. If Clev wants another titlist, he should fight Shumenov. That's a winnable fight IMO. Campillo would be a quality first defence.
It took three posts for someone with sense to come out with the obvious. :good Hopkins will clatter Nathan.
Yeah, he could beat Shumenov. Shumenov is good for him, he likes a tear up but he's not a massive puncher. Nor does he have the engine Cleverly does. That would be a great fight for Cleverly's marketability and one he'd be a favorite to win in my eyes. Well, Shumenov pretty much got a robbery against Campillo anyway.
I was of course referring to the margin of victory - NO...... You said, Cleverly is basically Pavlik but with less power and no chin..... Maybe you need to think before you type if you dont agree with your own posts Crossed wires FLEAMAN you thought i was replying to you when I was acually talking to SLy
