NO. I just wouldn't stake my house on it, Hops cant fight at a fast pace for 12 rounds, if Cleverly forced him into the trenches he could get a decision, I don't think that's crazy, I also don't think B-hop could stop a young hungry fully fledged light heavy like Clev.....
Except you're forgetting 1 important thing troll..... Hopkins lost atsch maybe you're as punch drunk as Toney :!::!::!::!: I'll let you off. :hi:
anyone who thinks cleverley could beat hopkins is crazy, although hopkins did look wobbly everytime he got hit clean cleverley isnt the man to end hopkins career, ive never rated bellew but after seeing cleverley last night i think bellew knocks him spark out
You're talking like you can just go in there and throw 800 punches on auto-pilot. That absolutely ain't going to happen. The other guy effects your output, Hopkins particularly is a master of it.
I agree, But I don't think Clev would fight in the same style he fought this Kuzmienski or whatever his name was, styles make fights and if Clev can stick to a gameplan like Calz and how Groves showed last night, I would give him every chance.
Hopkins would have too much ring craft and experience for Cleverly, even at this late stage of his career. I think Hopkins would win by wide ud. Hopkins is a master at controlling pace and has an excellent defense, Cleverly wouldnt be able to get off.
Except what is the gameplan? You're talking about 2 completely different tactics there, between what Groves did and what Calzaghe did. Whats this gameplan hes sticking to? At the moment Clev seems to have one tactic which is to negate his height, and throw any punch that comes into his mind for as long as the fight lasts. If he gets hit, he seems to just clown and then the red mist comes down if he gets hit again. He hasn't shown any great ability to stick to a gameplan, he just goes in there and does a Nathan Cleverly. Even if he did, Hopkins always has a gameplan and chances are its a far better one.
I'd like to see Cleverly train with someone like Steward. Hes nearly 6'3 and yet he fights like a volume punching pressure fighter. He has a good jab, reach and good straight punches. He needs to utilise his natural girfts better.
bhop would murder cleverly bhop is the most underrated fighter of our generation mainly due to his style and character at times
I wasn't referring to the particular tactics of each fighter I was simply stating that if you stick to the tactics Hops can be beat and the underdog can win, as in the case of Groves-Degale. Tactics would be to swarm him make it a war, trade with him and tire him out down the strech ala Calzaghe.
Gotta remember though, as slip&counter coined the term, he has 'T-Rex arms'. Which is kind of true, his arms cover like half his body. So while he's tall, his reach is not exceptional I don't think. He's got odd dimensions. I think what he does is essentially okay, he's grown up admiring Calzaghe clearly and thats the style he digs. Going out there and throwing a ton of punches no matter what which does have its merits. He needs to just polish up a bit. The old footwork could be better, it doesn't compare to Calzaghe's and little things like pivoting and rolling with the punches could make his pressure style a lot more effective defensively. At the moment when he takes a punch, its inevitably a massive one.
