If Hopkins is genuine and his shoulder was really that bad, then he was right not to continue. To fight on with an injury like that would have put him out for a long time and maybe even (at his age) end his career.

I'm still not convinced

I personally think Hopkins was relieved that the opportunity came along. I was never convinced that Bernard really wanted this fight. He avoided Dawson like the plague for the best part of 3 years and had this fight forced upon him because he leap frogged Chad to get the Pascal rematch. That's not to say he couldn't have won the fight, he lost the first two rounds but was not taking a beating by any means.

I think we should wait and see how keen he is for the rematch before passing judgement

 

Just watched it and the god I hate Chad Dawson, he represents a lot of what is wrong with Boxing. Put it like this, what happens next is far more interesting then the fight itself.

 

He was a smarmy ****, but they'd be wrong to overturn it. :nono

Hopkins had no business climbing him like that, and the fall was his own fault.

They'd be right to overturn it. Hopkins said he could continue, Russell told him the fight was over. Dawson won that on a foul, intentional or otherwise.

 

It wasn't Chad's fault, but he could have done without the attitude after the fact. I didn't see anything that indicated he or Hopkins was going to dominate the rest of the fight.

 

I like Hopkins and respect him but last nights antics are on par with Dirrel's imho.

If he cant get his work off he spoils and parades in his fights so to influence judges and refs. The Calzaghe fight was a ****ing joke with his tirades as an example.

Hopkins will be remembered well by the boxing community but one blight is his 'spoiling' which grates the **** out of me. He wanted out last night and never really wanted this fight in the first instance imo.

 

Still can't believe the Linares fight what a goat. Completely dominated the fight even with his face looking like it went through a meat grinder then goes into face first mode.

 

Hopkins had close to zero chance in this fight anyway.
