Toney was fighting 6-7 times a year at the time. Most of the fights listed were non-title fights. Cleverly fights twice a year.

Not a good comparision.

 

****ing hell, if cleverly was fighting that run of opponents 6 times a year, i would be the first to call him a disgrace to the sport

People need to know the details before pointing the finger at Cleverly. Look at Canelo, 154 Champ for two years and never even fought a decent fighter at the weight.
At least he travelling to put his name out there and not staying at home for 40 odd fights like Joe did.

Every title Clev has ever won has been vacant. His WBO reign of terror is so poor even the WBO are getting upset with it.

He beat a late replacement for the title, went life & death with a 14 fight novice without any world title credentials, looked unimpressive vs a nurse & is now facing a club fighter.

Thats a horrific last couple of years for a "world champion" & he's in one of the weakest divisions in boxing.

 

Its not his fault fighters cancelled on him.
