Cleverly NEEDS to keep his right hand up otherwise he won't make it to the the top!!

The guy is so open to a left hook when he comes it's ridiculous! I'm not slagging him off in any way as I'm a fan of his for sure, since developing real power I've always tuned in to watch him for every fight but against guys like Dawson, Pascal, Johnson and Cloud I'm afriad he'll get knocked out badly!

That being said it wouldn't surprise me if he fought the pretty much unknown WBO or WBA holders in his next fight and beat them fairly easily the way he is.... but they are not exactly the best they?

All his coach needs to work on in the gym is making sure when he leaps in he keeps that right hand by his jaw at all times and then, to me at least it would be realistic to think that he could become the top guy at light heavyweight one day soon.

 

I didn't say he won't make it at world level, he is possibly world class already? but it's such an obvious flaw in such a good fighter.... I can't believe it isn't being sorted out. How many times did he get hit last saturday with clean lefts when there is no good reason why he should have been?

It's not his team that makes him good, it's himself. They should just be fine tuning him for that step up.... which they don't seem to be doing as of yet.

Well Fry wasn't as good as the Italian (I can't remember his name either.) but he didn't have any power but as somebody with good boxing experience I've noticed this flaw in Cleverly for some time now. My mouth literally drawls when I see that opening!

I remember thinking it the entire way through his fight with Fry. He did get caught by him more than he should have done too.

 

Yeah, he sends out a really good message to the youngers out there going for a degree at university while being full time pro boxer.

Hopefully when he can put all his energy into it after university, he'll lose that bad habbit.

Haye don't get hit alot, and for that matter Froch would not have been caught with left hooks like that from the level opposition Cleverly fought last saturday either.... who, by the way has made to the top in large part because of his abilty to absorb a good punch.

The problem is when Cleverly drops his hands down almose to his belt line just when he leaps in for an attack, which can be timed relatively easily to be honest.
