It would be a great opportunity for Cleverly to fight a boxer on the level of Hopkins and it would be his best chance for a win against a man of his (Hopkins) quality, also considering that there's probably 0 chance that he'll get to fight Dawson anytime soon he really should consider it or else it'll be a few more years of fighting the Robin Krasniqi's of this world.
He should, its a good fight, although I think he'll lose to Hopkins. It took someone of Dawson's great ring intellect and technique to undo Hopkins, facets which I don't think Cleverley holds too much of. Yes he has the athleticism and the 12 round stamina, but when you consider he was wobbled by Kumienski (or however u spell it), and tagged a lot by Bellew, I don't think it takes much to see that unless Hopkins ages, he'll just coast his way to an uneventful decision victory. Hopkins' loss to Dawson, in my opinion doesn't really make anything any different. He still showed he had the technique and hand speed which wins him fights against those who lack the boxing prowress to neutralise him (Dawson being the only LHW out there right now who can). Against Cleverley, he'd be able to employ the exact same tactic he did against Dawson, only he'll win rounds on the basis that Cleverley won't be landing anything.
Cleverly would win almost as easily as Dawson did. Hopkins has no work rate, occasionally lead right followed by a headbutt or some wild slapping as he charges in. Cleverly has a solid jab and nice straight punches, he would simply outwork Hopkins and, especially on his own turf, get an easy decision. If I were Cleverly's team I would be begging Hopkins to come over. Easy win and big payday.
Nate hasn't fought anybody. Even at 47 Hopkins could beat him. Hop has done the impossible before. And can do it again. I just think he had way to much respect for Dawson's power thats why he lost!
If Tony Bellew can outbox Nathan (Tony is a great Boxer, but this is Hopkins we're talking about) then Hopkins would toy with him. I'd love for Clev to do that stupid face he does when he get's buzzed, as he'd be doing it all night if he fought Hopkins!
