What's going on there? Cleverly 5/4 for the win, Kovalev 4/5 in Wales, on a FW show.

I expect Cleverly to win a UD on the back foot in yet another underwhelming Cleverly fight.

Anybody else think the bookies have this wrong?

Na there's a good chance Clev gets knocked out, the Bookies think Clev is getting knocked out. I also expect Clev to get knocked out. Gutted the UK Bookies have the Russian has the favorite as i would have piled on the money.

I think Clev is going to pay the ultimate price for his lack of world class opposition.****** did him no favors protecting this paper champion.

Same here. Obviously I want a Clev win but I was hoping the bookies would be offering massive prices on an unknown Kovalev, their researchers have done their job unfortunately.

Bookies like destructive KO power, but people saying Cleverly hasn't been exposed to the highest level seem to forgetting this will only be Kovalev's 3rd 12 rounder. This is more of a step up for Kovalev, so if he walks through Cleverly like he has his other opponents then fairplay to him.

Is it that much of a step up for Kovalev though? Kovalev fought Campillo who most thought beat then champion Tavoris Cloud. He also beat Cornelius White who is a decent fighter.

cleverley to win needs a good game plan and the bookies have probably looked at verne troyer in his corner and thought that aint gonna happen so think he is gonna get chinned.

Kovalev is being seriously overrated here....

Cleverly has a very good chin and throws over a hundred punches a round something Kovalev hasnt faced yet in his short career.

The question is exactly how much power is Kovalev carrying? If he can't budge Clev then these odds change significantly and Cleverly has been shown to have a good chin. It's pretty clear the Kovalev camp see the fight going along similar lines to the fights you have mentioned there, but both Campillo and White had suffered previous KO losses before they'd fought Kovalev. Cleverly will be easily the best conditioned fighter Kovalev has faced and can take a dig.

    Probably. :bbb

But not a big underdog though.
British bookies usually aren't this in sync with the rest of the world when there's a British fighter involved.

If he loses, Kovalev must still show more for the loss to not be considered some level of exposing Cleverly. Like Prescott beating Khan, Kovalev may not turn out to be that good but just a bit powerful.

Lose lose. Cleverly should be looking at big names and big fights. If he does lose his joke of a WBO title then his career will have truly been butchered.

It's different when the likes of Cook and Arthur are hiding behind bogus WBO titles but Cleverly is a big strong fast high octane young fighter who with the right coaching has the ability to do big things...

...but yet the boxing world rightly consider him and his people a joke.

Cleverly is simply terrible technically but given his size, apparent durability and the pace he sets I don't expect him to be a walkover for most.

Kovalev has a really good chin, great stamina, extreme power, throws a lot of punches, only his punches are far more powerful than Cleverly's. Kovalev can box as well. Cleverly has no power to keep Kovalev off him. Cleverly is a volume puncher. Kovalev can match his punch numbers, only Kovalev's punches are much, much, much stronger.
